Chapter 13: Conversation with Welt

Anti-Entropy Headquarters, in the infirmary.

As the noon sun kissed the floor, a brown-haired man was chatting with a young man lying on a hospital bed.

"Mr. Welt, long time no see," Chase greeted Welt with a somewhat awkward smile. "This is our second meeting, but every time I seem to show you my embarrassing side."

The first encounter with Welt was on the outskirts of Berlin. It was Sirin's birthday, and Chase sneaked out of his home, used his secretly saved pocket money to buy his sister a dress. However, on his way home, he encountered a Herrscher, and being just a child, he couldn't single-handedly face the Herrscher and could only run away. Fortunately, he ran into Welt Yang, who was attending an E.T. Studio promotional event in Berlin at the time, and Welt saved him.

Their first conversation took place in a Berlin hospital room, where Welt admired Chase's courage and potential, and offered him a position in Anti-Entropy.

However, considering his family, Chase declined without much consideration. But Welt was not disappointed; instead, he grew even fonder. Welt shared knowledge related to the "Honkai" and promised that Chase could come to him if he encountered difficulties.

Unfortunately, after Sirin's mother passed away, Chase didn't have the chance to contact Welt before being taken directly to the Babylon Laboratory by the World Serpent, undergoing inhumane experiments on the cold snowy plains.

"Hahaha, I didn't expect to meet you here," Welt laughed. "But what's your relationship with that Herrscher? Why were you working together with her before?"

Chase became even more embarrassed. If he said Sirin was his sister and they fought, how could he face Welt?

My teacher and my sister fought, and a piece of equipment was destroyed—the broken glasses...

This is really awkward.

After some mental struggle, Chase chose to speak the truth, "Well, actually... um... how should I say it..."

Although he had made up his mind, it became difficult to articulate when the words were on the tip of his tongue.

If he could endure a bit longer, he might be able to meet Welt directly and take Sirin to him.

How could there be a situation where his sister and the teacher who saved him twice were fighting?

"Take your time; I'm listening. No need to rush," Welt seemed to sense Chase's embarrassment and reassured him with a smile.

"She, the Herrscher, is my sister," Chase finally said.

Welt was struck as if by lightning, standing still for several seconds. At that moment, he seemed to have turned into a statue.

"What did you say?" Welt asked with a smile.

"The Herrscher is my sister," Chase affirmed.

Welt's smile froze, gradually disappearing from his face.

You mean I fought with my student's sister...

Why didn't you say it earlier?! If you had said it earlier, we might have joined forces already...

Pardon, join forces!

Then, Anti-Entropy would have one more Herrscher, and there would be no need to fear the World Serpent anymore.

Not to mention the addition of a Herrscher-level combat power, the strategic and research value provided by an Herrscher of Reason was enormous.

Even though he found his student and understood the close relationship between the new Herrscher and his student, why... why does it hurt so much?

If only I hadn't been so impulsive at that time, if I had talked to her a bit more, perhaps I could have directly added a Herrscher to Anti-Entropy...

I was too impulsive... I deserve to die!

Welt Yang, the current leader of Anti-Entropy, the second-in-command Herrscher who inherited the philosophy of the "Inscription of the World," woke up in the middle of the night and slapped himself hard.

"Mr. Welt?"

"It's nothing, Chase. Allow me a moment to cool down," Welt's CPU seemed to be still processing, needing a moment to cool down.

"Oh, Mr. Welt, by the way, you accidentally pressed on my IV line..." Chase said somewhat helplessly.

Welt then realized that his subconscious act of resting his chin on his hand had inadvertently pinched Chase's IV line.

"Mr. Welt, is there any news about Sirin now?" Chase couldn't help but ask.

"No, not for now. After your sister clashed with me, she escaped using spatial teleportation," Welt shook his head and continued, "Perhaps she has a method of hiding her presence, as I can't sense her right now."

"Then... Mr. Welt, you didn't harm her, did you?" Chase asked again.

Welt felt a slight chill in his heart. He didn't even care if I, as his teacher, got hurt.

I'm tired, as a teacher.

This feeling is really uncomfortable, as uncomfortable as seeing Otto.

"I didn't cause substantial harm to your sister. She had a barrier of imaginary numbers around her, which I haven't broken through yet, and she managed to escape," Welt sighed and answered, "However, her accompanying Herrscher was seriously injured and probably won't survive for long."

"It's okay as long as she's fine," Chase said, finally relieved. His sister's safety was more important to him than anything else.

"Don't worry; when there's news about your sister, I'll let you know."

"Alright, thank you, Mr. Welt," Chase expressed his gratitude as he lay on the bed, unable to move, casting a grateful look at Welt.

"Now, Mr. Welt, when will my injuries heal?"

"Your injuries are mainly caused by the release of the 'Hammer of Thor,' and Theresa held back when attacking you," Welt explained. "With Anti-Entropy's current medical technology, you should be able to move normally within three days. However, you still shouldn't engage in strenuous activities; your body is still a bit weak."

"But there's no other way. After all, you've been inside the 'Tower' for so long, and not dying is already fortunate," Welt smiled and shook his head.

Chase could only force a smile and didn't say anything.

"By the way, Dr. Tesla took the 'Thor's Hammer' for research; she's quite interested in the 'Throne of the Gods' weapon of the World Serpent. You can ask her when you need it," Welt stood up and left, speaking as he walked.

"Oh, alright." Chase nodded and watched Welt leave.

After Welt left, Chase once again found himself bored.

Time in the hospital bed was agonizing, filled with sleeping and eating. Occasionally chatting with Mr. Welt who visited, and other times, he was truly bored, just staring at the ceiling in a daze.

He was genuinely worried about Sirin's current situation, such as whether she had eaten, whether she would catch a cold, or if she had a place to rest.

But considering Sirin's current status as a Herrscher, he let go of those concerns.

She had become a Herrscher, and he didn't need to worry about her as much.

He, on the other hand, was still an ordinary person who couldn't do much.

Chase sighed silently, staring at the ceiling in utter boredom.
