The silence that followed Hycis' words made the small dining room feel larger than it was.

Princess Yrathea was the first to break out of her shock. She turned to stare at Lord Rathal and Commander Druindar in turn confirming that they heard what she did before sending her glaze Hycis' and Celaena's way.

"Excuse me? Could you say that again, I don't think we heard you properly-"

"You heard me correctly." Hycis wasn't going to walk them through this gently. "In return for saving you and your people, we want you and your people."

Commander Druindar stood up abruptly, "Is this some kind of joke!" 

"No." Hycis stared at the older male in the face and answered him calmly. "I am not joking with you nor am I saying this to offend any of you."

"Then what do you mean by this?" Lord Rathal cut off Commander Druindar before he could shout again.

Druindar didn't like it, but held his tongue after seeing Princess Yrathea being so quiet.
