25 Chapter-25 : Lacus[2]

<Lucas>'s audition was running smoothly taking all the original crew members all that was left is the role of Maggie, Rina, Cappie.

When audition for Rina's role started, it was then Ric joined the audition for the first time. As, Ric knew if everything goes as original, Today he will meet Winona Ryder for the first time.

Today audition will be done by Seltzer , Ric, Ted one of the assistant, Mark representative from Fox and the audition is taking place in one of the large room in the studio.

"Next" shouted Ted

"Why is this character so complicated" Mark complied.

"Because you a have crush on someone like Lucas you have to be unique. Like this girl."said Ric while point at the on coming performer.

"Your Right, she is unique." Ted replied while checking the girl out.

"Shush now, let her speak" rebuke Ric.

During Ted speaking out and Ric rebuking the girl calm her heart, because she was coming in heard what Ric said and made heart skip a beat.

"Hello my name is Winona Ryder."

"Hello Winona. Can I call you that", She nods ,

"Thank you. So, have you acted before."

"yes, I played in my school theater."

"OK lets see then, remember what i am telling you"

she nodded, so Ric continued,

"here is the scene, a tom boy want to ask his crush who is a outcast on a dance."

She took a few minutes to prepare and acted the part including the reaction when she was rejected.

She was wearing a Gothic style dress with a short hair, bring a kind of unique charm when she acted as a tom boy which even hooked Seltzer.

After her performance, Ric smiled

"You did a wonderful performance, wait for a the result."

After she left,

"She is good" spoke Seltzer for the first time.

"Not good, perfect, I want her as Rina" Ric replied.

Seltzer shrugged and like that she got the role.

As the role of Rina was set, so was the role of Cappie as Robert downey jr. Leaving the role of Maggie.

Unlike the Maggie role in original, Ric wanted the role to be Sweet but hot. So, the girl has to have that temperament.

So, during the Audition, one girl got Ric's attention and that was Jennifer Connelly.

As she had been an model since she was a kid and played a role in <Once upon a time in America>

she had both the temperament and acting skills needed for the role. So, she was chosen for the role of Maggie.

With all the actor been chosen, The crew started preparing for the Shooting.

Many where unsure weather Ric can pull off the acting as a high school-er. But what many overlooked is that Ric is high school freshman from next year.

The shooting took place in New York in the High School Ric will attend next year.

In the film Lucas wears very large glass and have a messy hair.

When Ric change his looks to Lucas, the transformation shocked many people in crew as Ric had very outgoing, sunny confident personality, truing into Lucas change that very personality to socially outcast and nerdy look.

The whole change in look, change the atmosphere around Ric which was and people was shock due to this contrast.

As Ric easily turned into Lucas, the shooting started of in a good pace.

Shooting in a High-school is not a easy thing,

First you need permission, then you have make sure your not interfering with there daily works specially with the class.

Secondly, Shooting itself is not easy with the live audience making interference with the shooting.

But this problem didn't make any problem with Seltzer, as he shot most of the scenes during after school hour and the scene required School's recess time, in those case

he took help form the various club like football club, drama club and band club which was involved with the shooting as well as the school authorities to shoot without any interference's.

Unlike the previous version of the film, this version had many changes.

First of all, many vulgar jocks or words made by Lucas had to be reduced due to Ric's age as the child protection still breathes behind the neck of the Director and the producers.

Then many characters got more dimension like Cappie's girlfriend Alice and Lucas's friend Rina who had a crush on Lucas.

Also many scenes where either modified or improvised thanks to Ric's producer right.

This is the first time Ric had been involved the the entire shooting process.

From how the scene would be shot to the actual shooting Ric had been discussing with Seltzer every step of the way.

Even when a scene is improvised or the script is modified he and Seltzer had conversed over the matter.

Seeing him taking with the director before and after shooing many crew members have to readjust their mind about the importance of Ric as an lead actor as well as a producer.

As the shooting progressing nicely everyone entered a relax state which created the opportunity for everyone specially the cast member to know each other batter. Ric did what he was best at making connections and got close to everyone in the crew.

Even with being well acquainted with everyone, he was most close with Winona Ryder.

Over the course of the shooting, they were so close that, they often be seen together in the set. Some even joked that their relationship status might change by the end of the shooting.

The reason is very simple, Due to Winona's personality, she had a hard time mixing with other's and as Ric had a surprisingly adult perspective {A/N : pun intended. 😉 } act as the prefect catalyst to mix with her.

But with the passage of time, Ric found out that her wave length matches quite well with him and she found out its inserting to converse with him resulting them to get close to the point of forming a good bond.

This level of chemistry surprisingly also can be seen in the during their time of shooting against each other.

Like the taking scene of them beside the pond-side at the school dance program , or her reaction to Lucas joining the football team or

her excited face when Lucas did a touchdown only to change anxious and worry due to Lucas having an accident.

And due to this level of tactic understanding between them resulting Seltzer to add Lucas and Rina conversation in the hospital bed scene which was only had conversation between Maggie and Lucas and in this scene Lucas realizes Rina likes him.

The scene as follows:

Lucas recuperating in a hospital room while the students hold a vigil. at that moment Rina renter's the room sit beside his bedside

Hearing some noise, Lucas wakes up to find a girl sitting beside him.

"It's that you Rina"

"How are you feeling"

"My head is still hurting"

Seeing Lucas rubbing his forehead where the cut was, Rina got a bit emotional and took Ric's hand in-front of her.

Lucas looked at her only to see tears in her eyes.

"hey your crying."

"Of-course I am you moron. You know how much I was sacred when you had the accident."

Lucas was dazed listening to her and blurted out.

"You care about me"

Rina smirked and removed her tears,

"I know why you did what you did. But its time to let it go Lucas, just let it go and open your eyes and look around there are lot of people care's about you, some even more"

Lucas looked at her eyes full of care and unknown feeling mixed, a spark of realization occurred in side him and squeeze her hand more making her smile.

He was about to say something but was interrupted when a voice came from the door.

Both looked only to find Maggie standing there making their hand loose.

"Am I Interrupting something" Maggie asked

"Oh no you didn't, in fact came in the prefect time, I was about to leave."

With that Rina stood up and before going out he looked at them one last time

"Good night Lucas " and she left.

"Cut" said Seltzer

"Ric another wonderful performance their and you too Winona."

""Thanks"" they both replied.

"You two have a wonderful combination their to the point it makes me jealous." Said Jennifer jokingly.

"Ha ha ha Jenny, its just matter of perspective, we also give wonderful performance together." replied Ric while sitting on the bed."

"Ric is right you two also give wonderful performance together." Winona said.

"You also think so, thanks" said Jennifer while leaving.

After she left Ric looked at Winona,

"You know you cried" joked Ric

"Come on Ric, the scene was emotional and I was in my character."

"You know you can enter in you character quite surprisingly fast, even better than me."

"Well Looks l like I am good at something than the famous Richard Jackson."

They both laughed.
