20 Chapter-20 : Craze!!!

As the start of a new year approaches, many people are looking forward to the films that will be released, even though many previous year's films are rotting in theaters.

Naturally, many have kept their eyes on the release of the 1985 calendar's first film, <Home Alone, which is scheduled to be released on January 6.

As the film is a comedic genre played by the famous child actor Richard Jackson, many media outlets and the general audience, including the fan base of Ric, discussed this film, especially after the trailer and poster were released, which attracted much attention to the film.

Based on the story they dug out, many media outlets are giving their views, whether positive or negative, attracting countless people, especially kids.

Hey, you know the kid that played Cole?"

"That gloomy kid"

Yeah, that kid; he is bringing a new film in three days."

"Really, then I have to tell my dad about it."

This kind of discussion among friends about film can be seen in many places.

"Um... dad," a girl called his father nervously.

Yes," her father replied.

"You know a new film is about to release on January 6; can we go and watch it?"

Oh, your favorite Richard is releasing a new film," teased the girl's father.

"Dad!! I won't talk to you. Humph," replied the girl annoyed.

Seeing his teasing as successful, he laughed and said,

"Ha ha ha, sure, we will all go together."

"Yeah, I love you, dad!" replied the girl happily.

This type of scene can also be seen in many households.

Among this heated gossiping, the film <Home Alone> had a grand premiere, inviting many stars, reporters, and film critics, but the general audience that attended can't be said to be small either.

When the film started, it instantly hooked the audience, and from start to finish, whether it was the antics of Kevin or the thieves, it brought them to their knees laughing. After the film finished, a lot of the audience rewatched it, especially the kids.

Word of mouth, media having hot discussions, or critics giving views—all these heated gossips about the story of the film attracted the attention of many people, including the young generation.

As it was the mid-80s and the young people were more inclined to rock bands and when rebel teens followed the punk style, this kind of movie, whether you are a kid or a teen, is like it was brought straight out of their fantasy.

or it matched their theme , aesthetics, or they just loved the humor, it brought a craze among them, and this craze not only pushed them to re-watch the film once or twice but multiple times.

So, when the box office of the first week came out with the film grossing $30 million, it not only stunned everyone but also brought the craze to its peak.

This craze was only seen when Jurassic Park was released in 1993 or Titanic was released in 1997. Even the previous <Home Alone (1990) couldn't bring this craze.

The film's craze didn't diminish during the following weeks, resulting in the movie grossing 110 million in 4 weeks.

By the 9th week, the movie had earned 215 million and

This film finished its run time on the 18th week, grossing about 350 million in North America and 220 million worldwide, resulting in a grand total of 570 million.

Making Ric's second movie to cross the $500 million mark and also making him the youngest actor in history to have two films cross the $500 million mark.

During this craze, Ric was having a meal with Steven Spielberg at his house.

"So, Ric, you didn't tell me why you came to the house." Asked Steven when they sat in the living room.

"Why can't I come to my godfather's house?" Ric quipped

"Of course you can come anytime, but it's better if you have called; just don't come out of nowhere; we might not even be at home, you know." Steven explained while shrugging.

"Tsk-tsk, who made you my godfather?" Ric replied with a sigh.

"Your parents did," Steven quipped.

"And you asked for it," replied Ric in a tit-for-tat fashion.

Steven, at the end of E.T.'s celebration party, asked for permission to be both my and Drew's godfather from both my and her mother. And after whatever discussion Ric's or Drew's parents had with him, he became our godfather.

"Now boys don't fight," replied Amy Irving, who was Steven's fiancée.

""Yes ma'am""

Anyways, I came here for this," replied Ric while giving Steven a bunch of papers.

"What is this?" Asked Steven, curious.

"Remember at the <Home Alone celebration party, who said to me a theme that you want to shoot?"

Yeah, I remember. Wait, don't tell this. Is there a script about that?" Asked Steven with wide eyes.

Ric only smiled thinly and indicated the script with his eyes.

Steven quickly took the pages in his hand and started reading.

A few moments later,

"Wow, Ric, to think you created a script just from an idea.

I have to say your creativity really amazes me every time." Steven said this in an amazed tone.

Ric just laughed dryly while rubbing the back of his neck.

"I really love this script, especially the name <The Goonies>.

In fact, we start shooting right away."

What, really, you don't need to change anything in the script?" asked the socked Ric.

In fact, he has good reason to be shocked. Steven Spielberg is very demanding with a script and always modifies many places to his liking. Even when Ric was given the E.T. script, he changed a lot of things.

Seeing Ric's shocked face, Steven complained,

"Oh, come on, Ric, I am not that bad."

"Aren't you?"

Well, maybe a little bit."

Then they both laughed. Listening to their laughter, Amy Irving sighed and then shook her head.

"Trust me, Ric, this script is really good. All we need is a Distribution company, and the movie is good to go."

"Don't worry, Warner Bros. already gave their green signal. All you have to do is talk about the specific parts regarding the production and the contract."

"Wait a minute, me?"

"Yes, you... I'm not investing this time, and as a matter of fact, take the script as a gift."

"Oh no, no, no. Ric, I can't give this as a gift. Just tell me how much you want to charge for this Script."

"Okay.. If you don't want this as a gift, how about a favor?" Ric made a counterproposal. In fact, this was Ric's plan all along. Gaining this favor will really help him in the future.

When he heard the idea during that party, He thought about the film<The Goonies. So, He made a plan to use this film's Script to earn a favor from Steven.

"If you say it like that, then I accept." Steven agreed while sighing. Then he continued

"But one condition: you must take on the role of Mikey."

"Seriously, Mikey!!! Huff, fine," replied Ric while rolling his eyes.

"But for specific things like the contract, take it to Ari. " Ric said it again.

"It looks like we are cooperating again," Steven quipped.

"Happy co-operation." Ric quipped back.
