97 Chp 93 : Fare Thee Well

Jodie maintained her silence after she saw what occurred between Al and Robin. She did the "See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" things so far but he was sure that Jodie wanted to question him before she ran away with tail between her legs.

Although she visited him privately, bypassing the hospital securities by giving them her autograph and a few bit flirting with them.

What a simpleton, they thought she got that persona like the one she had in <Taxi Driver>.

The talk was involving Robin, as Jodie was curious that whether Robin was a lesbian or not. She was and Al explained that he was just kissing Robin for training purposes.

She gave Al a stink eye for it and she swore to protect Robin's chastity from a predator like him or else she would ensure that she would castrate him.

The way she said it sent a chill to his spine and a bit broken-hearted inside. When his crush said it was like a nail in a coffin to his little piece of hope for dating her in the future.

But soon Robin who was behind her was laughing loudly. Then he saw her eyes, her beautiful soulful enchant... He meant that the eyes from the cold-hearted person who did dark jokes.

Jodie knew Al and Robin had a weird friendship and some screw loose on their misadventures so she let this go. But she assured him again not to mess up with Robin or breaking Gwen's heart.

Then she left him with an evil smile hanging from her mouth. Great, more people who knew that he was dating Gwen. The person who knew that he had a girlfriend was just Ione and Robin. He would tell everyone else if the time was right.

Robin easily slipped outside of his room at an exact moment when the nurse came to check on him. How she could use misdirection with that "notice me" make-up was a secret that even with Mind Library, he couldn't get the answer.

Also, the day after he had regained consciousness, the doctors did another test on him. He passed with flying colors, no bruise, no ache anymore, nothing.

He looks "Brandt" new. The only explanation that the doctor could give was that he had an ultimate metabolism.

With no injury could be found, the hospital revoked the visitation restriction on him and everyone finally could visit him.

Mary and Vivian were the first ones who suddenly rushed into his bed. Their eyes were fiery, showing him a heavy concern for him which made him felt really guilty for worrying them.

"Why are you saying sorry, silly? You were the one who got hurt! I've been threatening my dad and other crews if something happened to you Al." That was Vivian said while lightly touching his head.

Then they started to ask him any type of question that maybe Oxford dictionary would be added into.

Everyone else also came to visit him from the film cast and crews even the executive producers showed their faces and apologies on behalf of everyone on the crew.

Of course, you got an actor who got a promising future had an accident in their filming location. If this was not Kubrick's film, his mentor-- he would have press a charge and sue them for negligence.

If he did, the filming would be stopped and there would be an inspection by Screen Actors Guild or any other guilds who wanted to become hyenas.

Who could beat the American paparazzi besides the British? Dozens of paparazzi sniffed the news about Al being in an accident in a shooting location and the news spread into the USA.

Mom and everyone else in the orphanage gave him a call. His friends, agents, and godfather also asked about him. Funny that the tabloid was giving the information faster than he did to his family and close friend.

He also gave a call to Gwen and Ione. Telling them he was okay. For Ione, he was asking if she knew that Robin was there with him and she did know.

As for Gwen, he told her that he really missed her. She told him that she was sorry for unable to visit him there which he said it was okay. He promised that they would meet soon in Los Angeles and wished her good luck in her music career.

After the call ended, he sighed. Then a shadow of sweet memories and the exquisite body and wild passionate activity between them crossed his mind.

His face flushed scarlet red and suddenly he became so hard. He should've begged Gwen to came here. But it would be too shallow to call her here only for a booty call. He started to repeatedly hit his head. Her petite yet cute and sensitive tits of hers and although Al was not in any camp, her swaying ass was unforgettable. Then her lips, her moan, her exotic body... shit he really need to get a tissue.

After being hospitalized for another 2 days, he was finally discharged.

Stanley was so glad at him for him being discharged, he finally got his errand boy back. Hah! He knew he missed him very much, that old man was such a tsundere it seems.

March has stepped into their doormat, leaving February behind, as a wise man ever said, February Sucks but not for him.

Besides the tiring, repeated, and slow-paced shooting by Stanley, nothing else happened, except for that, there was a campsite and a bonfire suddenly appeared near the trailer sites.

If someone else saw this tent, of course, they would be confused, but if they were friends with these two guys, they became used to it.

Currently, the shooting location was located in Isle of Dogs, London. It was a neat, clean, and peaceful area-- except that today the shooting was about war and part of this place has been turned into a Vietnam-like place in the 70s.

Explosion, gun sound, and the tanks. Stanley did always watching for the details. He was a cult director who has his own style, Al remembered how he shot Spartacus, the most Hollywood Blockbuster film Stanley ever shot.

On his timeline, this good film had a mixed review. Common people believed that this film had two acts. But in reality, he thought there were three.

First, the barrack scene was a really interesting act, the harsh change from a civilian into a Marine, how violent and unforgiving that old school training could be but covered by military quirk.

The rest of the acts was most debated. It actually was sarcasm to the US marines. The story kept moving towards despair and darkness. Some people may see it as a bit boring.

The second act, deployment. Fucking around, seeing the sights, being still naive about the war.

In the third act, all went to hell. The movie turned dark. The insanity of kids turned killers leading other kids into a battle. After killing, there's no going back. They've taken a human life and it changed forever.

This movie got a low box office revenue but it became one of the classics. This made the vision of the film between him and Stanley different.

Al would focus on the balance between business and art. That's why Stanley asked him for another discussion with him.

About how he would shoot the second and third act. Although their vision was different, they respected each other opinions.

But Al's idea was so good that Stanley almost incorporated it, keyword; almost. But truly, Stanley was amazed at his idea and he said in time, Al could balance it. Al was happy hearing that from him but almost is never enough.

Even Nolan who said want to balance commercial and art was slowly lose himself-- but still, he liked that man. He met him once and once worked as his crews.

Back to the shooting location, he really loved it.

How amazing Hollywood film set designer has changed this place. As Stanley had said to him, as long it can be written or thought, it can be filmed.

When Al erected this 6-people tent, everyone seeing him like he was crazy, but not Ermey. He thought it would be interesting to have camped here and soon join him too with the military tent he got from the prop.

Why he erected this tent? Today was a special occasion. In the 80s, this place was far from light pollution and he could be doing star gazing today.

Today was 6th March 1986, a day where Halley Comet entered Earth's orbit could be seen from naked eyes from the earth.

There was much superstitious belief that the world would end today but he laughed it off.

He brought a good camera for $10,000 to capture it. Robin was also there with him and also the rest of his brother in arm interested to join him also erected a tent over here.

As the dusk crept the sky, the campsite which was desolate before now crowded. They were sitting around the campfire, some brought food and some brought them 6-packs.

"What if the world ends today?" When the sole sound of dry twigs burned, someone spoke and broke the silent dusk.

Al didn't get a crystal vision of who was talking because of the dusk so he didn't know who was speaking, but that man then added, "The last Halley Comet brought a prelude to World War I, what would happen this time?"

"The end of fucking world?" Al whispered, everyone else who had heard it shuddered, not because of what he said but also about how he said it was really creepy.

"Well, I wished for Unicorn," Robin said and earned a weird glare from all of them. "What? I ain't gonna waste a chance if this comet can grant a wish. I like Unicorn."

"Ignore her," Al said, "Look, the night was getting late, the stars and Halley Comet should be visible by now." All of them started to look above the sky, the sea of stars were started to show their twinkle.

The Halley comet, a white gleam with a trail of light finally visible to their naked eyes. Some said it was a beauty, especially for an astronomer and a dreamer.

But for most of the crews here who were more realistic, it was just a space shit who were just passing by.

His eyes suddenly widened, "Yeah, there will be an accident... a big one that could bring catastrophe." He let out a desperate sigh.

"Al? You okay?" Robin asked.

Al gave her a wry smile and said, "Yeah, I'm fine. Hey, I brought a marshmallow and got chocolates. Who wants some." He tried to change the topic which everyone has bought that, except for Robin.

She sensed his distress and she even got more curious.

As for Al, he suddenly felt helpless. Why he just realized it now? The Chernobyl!!

That nuclear accident caused contamination of air and food across Europe. He was so desperate for food now. First, there was a mad cow disease that made him unable to consume his favorite cheeseburger. And now, there would be another accident that could steal all of his food sources.

Some were let down by the Halley Comet, Private Joker started to sing a country song to entertain their boring night, followed by some people who also volunteered to sing.

Ermey brought them a harmonica and he played it fluently.

Al amusedly looking at them all. But then Private Pyle challenges him to sing a song. Everyone soon followed and screamed his name.

"Okay, okay; You win." He cleared his throat and asked someone to give him a harmonica. He also played some country song intro then everybody was hypnotized by his soothed heavy voice.

"If I had wings like Noah's dove... I'd fly the river to the one that I love..." Everyone closed their eyes, enjoying the sound that calmed their nerves. "Fare thee well, My honey..., fare thee well..." He didn't forget to play the accordion, and he did good with it, although not as good as Ermey.

As he finished the American folksong called "Fare Thee Well", everyone clapping their hands at him.

"Alphonse Brandt, the true American! Cheers for him!" Ermey rose his bottle of Heineken. Everyone followed him, raised their beers or cup of hot chocolate.

Robin had stolen one but forcefully retrieved it by Al, since then she has been pouting at him.

1986 was another good year, well at least for him.
