After Ian left Korea, he had a set of things that he knew needed to be done. Among them, attending to the appointments that he would have attended during the two weeks was an important task.

After resting for two days, reading and enjoying the little free time he got, he was prepared to get back to work.

If Ian had one goal for the year, that was to begin directing the Luke Skywalker saga.

November 23, 2022

Ian walked inside his office and sat.

He felt the thrills of getting back to work making their own way to his mind.

'Oddly enough, I missed this place,' he thought to himself and circled around the chair.

The intercom buzzed. His eyes immediately went to the intercom and he halted his actions.

"Mr Renner, Carrie Fisher is here," Murphy's voice came through.

"Oh, please, send her in," Ian said and straightened in his chair.

He turned his laptop on and waited for Carrie to walk in. He was simply anticipating and looking forward to seeing how excited Carrie would be when she heard about the new project he had in mind.

In less than ten minutes, she walked in.

She was wearing a red suit which gave more of a professional vibe. But her smile was unmatched.

"Please, have a seat. Nice to see you again," Ian said and welcomed her.

After the formalities, both Ian and Carrie started to discuss her role in the project. Ian went ahead and explained.

In the original Star Wars, Carrie Fisher played the iconic role of Princess Leia Organa in the Star Wars franchise. Princess Leia was a central character in the original trilogy and plays a significant role in the overall story.

Leia Organa's character was a strong, intelligent, and courageous leader. She was a member of the Rebel Alliance, who fought against the oppressive rule of the Galactic Empire. Leia was known for her quick wit, determination, and unwavering dedication to the cause of freedom and justice.

Leia's character was defined by her resilience and her ability to make tough decisions in the face of adversity. She was a skilled diplomat, strategist, and a capable fighter. Leia's role extends beyond being a princess, as she became a key figure in the Rebellion's efforts to overthrow the Empire.

Throughout the Star Wars saga, Leia was portrayed as a symbol of hope and resistance against tyranny. She became an inspiration to others and a prominent figure in the fight for galactic freedom. Leia's story arc also explored her personal relationships, including her complicated bond with Darth Vader, her biological father, and her romantic involvement with Han Solo.

Carrie Fisher's portrayal of Princess Leia brought depth, strength, and vulnerability to the character. Her performance captured the spirit of Leia, making her one of the most beloved and influential characters in the Star Wars universe.

The woman in front of Ian listened to each and every word attentively. Ian knew from her face that she must have lots of questions about the series and her character.

"That sounds like something I don't want to miss," she said and looked at her phone. "My manager will be here in ten minutes, can we wait for him?" she asked.

Ian nodded and smiled.

"Well, I can see your wheels turning. And even if your manager comes here, you know what he will say."

Carrie nodded, thinking deeply.

"Yeah, that is why I'm even more hooked. So, Ian, besides talking about work, tell me how have you been? How is Raelynn doing? It's been so long since I last talked to her. Uh, I miss female friendships in the industry," she said and shook her head.

"I have been doing well. Surprisingly, things are going smoothly around here. But you know how it is, every day is a new struggle-"

Their conversation was disturbed when Ian got a text from Murphy which said that Carrie's manager was outside.

Ian quickly replied with, 'Send him in'.

"Your manager is here."

After the manager walked in, Ian started discussing Star Wars. He described his best about the storyline and what character Carrie Fisher would play.

"And we'll do the screening test next week?" Ian asked and looked at the manager.

"Yes, we can. When do we get to sign the NDA?" he questioned back.

"Right as we're talking, the documents are being prepared. Take your time and sign when you can. That wraps it up then," Ian said and placed his hands on the table.

Carrie Fisher looked at Ian, and back at her manager. The conversation made her feel awe about Ian and his new concepts.

"Ian, from the bottom of my heart, my response is how well you've thought and planned. I still have to think more about the role and dedicate my time to this project, but Princess Leia… Sounds just like the character that would suit me. However, we will take time and let you know… To the screentest," she said and placed her hands on the table.

Her manager briefly glanced at her due to her response. Even Ian looked shocked for a brief moment. The role and what Ian had presented was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

How she was told that she'd take more time to think about the role—made the manager look at her way differently.

He covered it up and smiled, giving a nod of approval.

Ian realised what was happening immediately.

"Well, take your time. Don't take too much time, the sooner–the better. And, Carrie, can I ask what's keeping you from not… getting on the boat?" he asked what was in his mind.

Carrie chuckled.

"Well, well, well, Mr. Director. You certainly know how to make a girl curious. I mean, slow and steady, right? No rush. Let's take the time to really dive into it and make sure it's worth my while. But hey, don't worry, I won't keep you hanging. Give me the script, let me work my magic, and I'll give you my verdict tonight. Deal?" she asked.

Ian nodded.

"It's settled then. Ah, would you guys mind joining me for a coffee? All the talking drained me," Ian said and casually invited both Carrie and her manager for coffee.

At which he wanted to make sure Carrie was on board with Star Wars as steadily as possible. But more than that, he wanted to be around people he knew from his previous world.

It always felt homely in a different way.
