31 Fools and Foes

The next day Freya attempted to sit up.

The food Harriet had fed her had provided some energy but it was humiliating being fed like a child.

Freya sat on the edge of her bed with the bright sun shining in her large windows. Harriet and Abigail slept on a small fainting couch and an armchair in the room.

Freya reached for a dark blue robe at the foot of her bed and pulled each arm through the sleeves. Then after tying the belt around her waist she pulled her long hair out from the collar and twisted it into a low bun.

She looked down at her feet.

Her left foot looked awful, as if a carriage had run over it.

She inhaled a brave breath and attempted to put some weight on it and stand up.

As soon as her bare foot touched the wooden floor she yelped like a puppy.

"Owhh!!!"

"WHAT!!!" Harriet shrieked and fell straight off the small sofa landing flat on her face.

"Nothing, nothing!" Freya waved her hand but Abigail and Harriet had already scrambled over to grab both of her arms.
