14 Making Compromises

The next morning Freya and her ladies were invited to breakfast.

The meal itself was a stark contrast from dinner the previous night; a spread of eggs, warm milk, nuts, fruits and several imported cheeses.

The girls ate at an empty long table with only Sir Langdon as company.

The atmosphere was calm and laid back and the open windows brought in some sunshine.

Freya tried the different foods and wondered why Sebastian hadn't joined them?

However she didn't want to ask about him and appear like she depended on his presence.

Which she didn't...

Anyway, she smiled and thought of exploring the castle a little, after their meal.

Harriet rubbed her tired eyes and continued to eat, while Abigail looked fresh faced and well-rested.

"Sleeping beside her is torture," Harriet whispered to Freya.

Freya giggled quietly and nudged Harriet's waist, "You can sleep with me tonight."

"Oh no.. I couldn't," Harriet said covering her mouth as she ate.
