Starlight

*click*

My wand clicked into place on the guitar, and nothing happened. Well, nothing visible happened. My friends seemed disappointed. I smiled and flipped a switch; there was a buzz, and then six strings of coloured light shimmered from base to neck.

"Eddie, is that- " Grant started to ask.

"spell light", I said with a smile. "Strings made from magic."

"pretty", said Luna ", like ribbons of stars" I looked down at the guitar, and she was correct. The spell light was brighter in points up and down the string, giving an illusion of stars in a nebula.

"come on, play us something", Tim was eager.

I thought about how to play the new guitar and the new first song. I was just about to start to play when I heard.

"wait!" looking over my shoulder, I saw Tina sprinting towards us. She reached us, huffed, and puffed. "Okay, now you can start" We all just stared at her. "What do you think? I'm going to miss Eddie's first song on a new guitar", she said, then looked at said guitar. "Why does it look like you have magic for strings?"

"Because I do," I smirked. I plucked the guitar strings in the opening of the song.

•Hotel California by Egales•

The magical guitar hums with a life of its own, each strum glowing with faint, ethereal light. The notes flow effortlessly, weaving a rich tapestry of sound that fills the air. As my fingers dance over the fretboard, the magical guitar amplifies the haunting melody, casting a spell over my friends. The air around me shimmers slightly, as if the music itself is materializing, creating an aura of mystique.

♫On a dark desert highway

Cool wind in my hair

Warm smell of colitas

Rising up through the air

Up ahead in the distance

I saw a shimmering light

My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim

I had to stop for the night♫

My voice carries a weight of emotion, perfectly complemented by the guitar's enchanting tones. The guitar, sensitive to my touch and the magic within him, adds layers of harmony that seem almost impossible for a single instrument, echoing across the black lake with a clarity that captivates every listener.

♫There she stood in the doorway

I heard the mission bell

And I was thinkin' to myself

"This could be heaven or this could be hell"

Then she lit up a candle

And she showed me the way

There were voices down the corridor

I thought I heard them say♫

The surface of the Black Lake shimmers, mirroring an illusion of starlit sky above, creating an illusion of playing in two worlds at once, day and night. I close my eyes, letting the music guide me, and in that moment, I am free. Free from the constraints of the ordinary, embracing the magic that flows through my veins, through my guitar, into the hearts of those I share this song with.

♫"Welcome to the Hotel California

Such a lovely place (such a lovely place)

Such a lovely face

Plenty of room at the Hotel California

Any time of year (any time of year)

You can find it here"♫

The creatures in the Black Lake floated to the surface like they were dancing in the stars. Enjoying the magical melody that comes from the guitar.

♫Her mind is Tiffany-twisted

She got the Mercedes-Benz, uh

She got a lot of pretty, pretty boys

That she calls friends

How they dance in the courtyard

Sweet summer sweat

Some dance to remember

Some dance to forget♫

As I sing more of the song, bright ghostly phantoms of the characters act out scenes behind me.

♫So I called up the Captain

"Please bring me my wine"

He said, "We haven't had that spirit here

Since 1969"

And still, those voices are calling

From far away

Wake you up in the middle of the night

Just to hear them say♫

The Illusions gather around me as we sing the chorus to our audience.

♫"Welcome to the Hotel California

Such a lovely place (such a lovely place)

Such a lovely face

They're livin' it up at the Hotel California

What a nice surprise (what a nice surprise)

Bring your alibis"♫

♫Mirrors on the ceiling

The pink champagne on ice

And she said, "We are all just prisoners here

Of our own device"

And in the master's chambers

They gathered for the feast

They stab it with their steely knives

But they just can't kill the beast♫

♫Last thing I remember

I was running for the door

I had to find the passage back

To the place I was before

"Relax, " said the night man

"We are programmed to receive

You can check out any time you like

But you can never leave!"♫

The notes of the solo rise from the strings, more vibrant and alive than I've ever felt them. It's as if the guitar knows this moment is special and is determined to share its magic with us all. With each bend and vibrato, I pour my heart into the music, the magical guitar weaving a tapestry of sound that wraps us in a cocoon of melody.

After finishing the 2-minute and 12-second solo, the final chord fades into the air, and a serene silence envelops us. Opening my eyes, I see the awe and wonder reflected in the faces of my friends.

*Clap clap clap clap clap* Luna is applauding fast and cheerful, which brings a huge smile to my face. Tim coughs out of his awe and joins the clapping. Soon, Grant and Tina do the same.

"so what you gonna name it?" Tina asked after she saw what it could do.

"Starlight. her name is Starlight,", I said, looking down at the guitar.
