10 CHAPTER-10 The Holy Father System

Do you wish to examine Darren's bloodline more closely?

Dumbledore thought curiously.

Nevertheless, he suppressed this idea, recognizing that each family's bloodline was a private matter, not to be explored by outsiders. Even if Darren was just a child and seemed amiable, Dumbledore wouldn't entertain such an inquiry unless Darren himself proposed it. It was a sensitive and personal subject.

Currently, Dumbledore needed to ascertain if Lily's bloodline spell had affected Darren. Lily's spell aimed to protect all recognized family members.

Logically, Darren should have been covered. However, when Dumbledore traced the lines of this spell, there was no trace of Darren, leading him to believe that Darren might be presumed dead.

Now, with Darren alive and well, Dumbledore pondered the reasons behind it. Could it be that Lily assumed Darren was deceased, and therefore, the blood curse didn't extend to him? While plausible, it seemed unlikely.

Dumbledore cast several spells on Darren, and his countenance gradually turned grim. However, to avoid alarming Darren, he forced a smile.

Silent! Darren possessed a Obscurus power! How was this possible? No wonder Lily's blood curse didn't affect Darren; perhaps it silently countered it. Since both were dark spells, it made sense for them to nullify each other.

Although Dumbledore hadn't witnessed the silent scene, he deduced this possibility.

Silent individuals typically didn't survive past the age of ten, making Dumbledore doubt that Darren could be one.

Now faced with the undeniable reality, Dumbledore couldn't deny it any longer, but he had never seen a Obscurus scene in Darren's memories.

"Darren, have you ever noticed an extra force in your body—powerful and perhaps sinister?" Dumbledore inquired solemnly.

Darren was momentarily stunned before realizing that Dumbledore referred to Obscurus. Okay, add another layer of tragedy to his already difficult childhood.

"Yes, Professor Dumbledore. As a child, I felt there was a strange power within me, and I was afraid to use it. Eventually, it disappeared.

However, I think it might still be hidden in my body. Despite this, I've never seen it manifest over the years. I believe it to be benign and not harmful, so I haven't been concerned about it," Darren explained with simple innocence.

Dumbledore fell into silence, grappling with the revelation.

Magic being silent, he could comprehend, but silent kindness was beyond his understanding. However, he grasped the gist of what Darren was conveying.

"So, you're saying that silence—the power lurking within your body—has never surfaced, and you subconsciously believe it poses no harm to you?" Dumbledore concluded.

Darren vigorously nodded, even though he knew it sounded somewhat ridiculous. However, he couldn't reveal that Obscurus was bestowed upon him by the system, each minute of Obscurus was equivalent to a thousand holy father points. Hence, he had to maintain the façade.

Dumbledore remained silent. While magic use by wizards was idealistic and based on willpower, silence represented a form of kindness and control that was hard to comprehend. Yet, if Darren's silence wasn't a dark force, something didn't quite add up.

Despite never using Obscurus, Darren hadn't harmed anyone, a stark contrast to other silent individuals.

Silent individuals typically emerged when wizards attempted to suppress their magic to hide from persecution.

Over time, they became uncontrollable, launching sporadic attacks before disappearing. However, Darren, having remained Obscurus without using magic for eleven years, defied this pattern.

Moreover, Obscurus was generally triggered by a wizard's extreme aversion to their own magic. Darren, on the other hand, had merely been fearful of his powers, and Obscurus had appeared without forcing him to use magic.

Darren's Obscurus seemed magical in a unique way, and Dumbledore couldn't fathom the reason behind its appearance.

A sudden realization struck him. Darren's name didn't appear in the Book of Access, possibly due to his Obscurus.

"Professor Dumbledore, it seems I used this power earlier today before you came to pick me up," Darren interjected, steering the conversation and diverting suspicion. He couldn't reveal the system's involvement, so he attributed everything to silence.

"Oh? Tell me more about it," Dumbledore encouraged.

"Kenli was trying to get me into trouble with some people at the time, so I..."

Dumbledore perked up. Was this kid attempting to stand up to Kenley? It seemed Darren wasn't as foolish as he initially thought.

Darren continued, "So, I was planning to run away a bit, and I used a bit of it. Surprisingly, I ran a bit faster."

Dumbledore: ...

Well, at least he tried, the system probably made Obscurus controllable.

"Let me teach you a simple spell, Wingardium Leviosa, which allows you to make objects float," Dumbledore suggested, teaching Darren twice before handing him his wand.

Darren cautiously took the wand, feeling a surge of potent energy. The Old Wand! Darren's first thought upon receiving it wasn't that he had become more powerful; instead, he suspected that Dumbledore, the old silver coin, was testing him.

He maintained his holy father act but couldn't shake off the feeling that Dumbledore was reluctant to let him go.
