28 Augusta's Surprise

Augusta Longbottom POV

The world is going mad these days. It was easier, when there was a powerful Dark Lord like Grindelwald, and a shrewd manipulator like Dumbledore and they fought their battles away from our country, and in the colonies or on the continent.

But to have a home-grown Dark Lord, with an intent to purify the world of Muggleborns and "lesser" Blood Traitors was a headache. It was dangerous, no doubt, to have a war waged so close to home, and to live in ever growing distress of being at the pointy end of the wand of these idiots who keep casting Unforgivables, without a care for the collateral and the damage to society.

And when it looked, like the Dark Lord who had taboo'ed his name, and is being called You-Know-Who and He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, would finally overthrow the British Ministry of Magic, he started suffering setbacks.

An unknown enemy had single-handedly waged war on the Dark Lord, from the shadows. He had started with lesser supporters from the Dark families, and escalated his actions each passing day. The Dark Lord wasn't forthcoming of his losses, and frankly who would, but those of us, in the know, could see the enemy ranks being pierced through, with this ruthless wave of brutal slaughter.

The highlight of this War from the Shadows was when Seven Black Family members were found brutally murdered, along with the last Lestrange Heir, and his wife Bellatrix, who was the most trusted right-hand of the Dark Lord himself, and a downright sadistic vicious cunt.

And these brutal murders would have appeared unrelated, if not for the one common fact in all of them: The suspected inner circle of the Death Eaters were always found without their Wands. They had all been slaughtered and mutilated beyond measure, and if not for the Unspeakables, their identities would have remained, forever, mystery.

And the Blacks were merely killed in a hotel with some muggle contraption. But apparently, the true skill of this person was killing seventy-six members of the staff, and none the wiser.

They systematically removed each piece off the board, and with each piece removed, Dark Lord was challenged, as he was unable to end the assault on his forces, while his enemies remain in the dark and cull his power and the fear he inspires in others.

Just when this enemy of Dark Lord seemed to have outdone himself, Augusta found a gift basket at the end of her wards.

She thought it could be a trap, but her son and daughter-in-law checked the basket, which merely had a parchment of letter and a set of unbreakable vials, which contained faint strands of ethereal light which she knew, were extracted memories.

She found herself lost in thought, when she heard her son gasp in shock. She turned to her right, only to see him reading the letter, and it seemed to be something shocking, as his eyebrows had found their way curved upwards to their maximum.

She found her daughter-in-law asking, "What is it, Frank?" Now Augusta was curious as well, and she joined Alice in reading the letter.

And what a surprise it was! There were some shocking truths, but the end of the sentence made her blood run cold.

'The Bones of the Blood Traitor shall be displayed at High Noon in the Ministry Atrium. Please come bear witness to this spectacle, as a beacon of Light faction, and its leader.'

Now her curiosity was peaked. This powerful entity had single-handedly angered the Dark Lord, mocked the Light Faction for their Inactivity and Complacency, mocked Dumbledore by declaring him Unfit of leading the Light Faction, showed Ministry their incompetency by revealing a mole at such a high level. And putting a display of a murder in front of the Ministry to show their incapability and mock their false sense of security, had finally revealed the Turncoat in their ranks.

This was a terrifying individual, and she could be absolutely certain of one thing, this entity, whoever he or she is, may be absolutely against the Dark Lord, but he is most assuredly, not on their side, as well.

He seemed to know a lot as well, as she had found two post scripts at the bottom of the note.

'P.S. Go to the Atrium, first or you will miss the first row view to the show. And don't bother informing the Flaming Chicken Lord, he has informants on both sides to inform him. After all, the Dark Lord was a dear student of Dumbledore and Horace Slughorn at Hogwarts.

P.P.S. I also took care of Fenrir Greyback, the animal was put down at the cabin in Hapsbury woods. You can find the map to the cabin, where he was hiding with Barty Crouch Jr. You might need to hand over this letter to the authorities to find the remains of the animal I disposed off.'
