Chapter 9

As they reached a Rolls-Royce, the driver respectfully opened the door for Chloe Collins.

"Young Lady, please."/p>

Chloe smiled slyly, with a hint of disdain. "If you want to say something, come out and say it yourself. You only have five minutes."/p>

The man in the car didn't move, veins bulging on his forehead, clearly furious.

Chloe glanced at him and started to walk away.

Just then, the car door swung open, and Tristan Collins got out with a stern face.

His stern eyes had no trace of fatherly affection, only cold scrutiny.

Then, with indifference, he looked away and said sarcastically, "You don't even take the initiative to greet your father? What kind of manners did your mother teach you?"/p>

His voice was calm, yet ruthless.

Chloe's lips curled with an attractive smile, a mixture of casual and cold. "Father? You?"/p>

Tristan was provoked by her frivolous tone. Anger suddenly erupted in his eyes. He suppressed it, trying to sound as calm as possible, "Who's that blond-haired man you're with? He doesn't look like a decent person. Are you using your mother's money to support him?!"/p>

Chloe's face remained calm, "Yes, I am supporting him."/p>

Tristan's face turned blue. "You! Shameless!"/p>

His thick middle-aged voice was laced with mockery and anger.

Chloe looked at him leisurely, lips slightly raised. Even though she was smiling, the cold in her eyes was more ruthless than ever. "What's it to you?"/p>

Tristan's gaze was sharp. "In the eyes of others, I am your father! Your disgraceful actions are putting me to shame!"/p>

Chloe's voice was light. "Have you ever managed or taught me anything in the past decade? My father..." she sneered, "Do you deserve to be one?"/p>

Tristan choked for a moment, took a while to regain his composure, then scoffed, "I knew you wouldn't amount to much!/p>

"If a child goes uneducated, it is the father's fault. I turned out this way, all thanks to you."/p>

Tristan was angered to the point where his lips quivered, unable to retort immediately.

Chloe looked up, a lazy glint in her eyes, "Let's not waste time talking about father-daughter affection. I have none with you, and in the future, don't bother me unless necessary."/p>

As she was leaving, Tristan asked, "Where did you get the money to compete at the auction? I know exactly how much your mother left you – it wasn't that much! Where did you get it?"/p>

Chloe chuckled, "So, that's what you wanted to ask? Fine, I can tell you. That money, I earned it."/p>

Tristan sneered coldly in anger, "You earned it? A country bumpkin like you earned 30 million? How presumptuous and disrespectful! Her upbringing was wasted on you. Can you face her in the underworld?!"

Chloe's look was wilful and unhurried, "The one who remarried the day after her funeral isn't me. So, of course, I can face her."/p>

Tristan's face reddened with rage.

He lost patience and didn't want to waste another second on Chloe.

He took a cheque from his pocket, wrote while speaking, "Since your mother sent you to the Fosters, you better stay there obediently. From now on, don't ever claim to be a part of the Collinses in front of others, let alone my daughter. The less people know about our relationship, the better. Anyway, I don't exist in your eyes as a father!"/p>

"This money should be enough for you to live comfortably for the rest of your life. Take it, and know I have been merciful and just to you."/p>

Chloe's eyelids drooped, her gaze falling on the cheque.

Without even checking the amount, she casually accepted it, then tore it up.

As Tristan watched, infuriated, the pieces fluttered down.

Her face was expressionless, "Who are you looking down on? Like I need you to support me? Save it for your own retirement."/p>

With that, she walked away, never looking back.

However, she didn't retrace her steps, but instead headed towards the elevator.

As she turned the corner, she stopped and raised her eyes, filled with curiosity and rested them on Alexander Foster's perfect, flawless face.

"Is eavesdropping fun?"/p>
