30 Visit

"Father, what did he say?" Samuel asked after his father ended the call. Mr Sky took a deep breath. "He continues to threaten me," he replied.

"I knew it; it's just like Emily predicted. As long as he has this secret in his hands, he will keep stepping over us," Samuel said, balling his fist in frustration.

"What should we do now? Taking back the first statement will be slapping our own face," Mr Sky sighed.

"Dad, I think we should go through with Emily's plan," Samuel responded.

"No," Mr Sky immediately cut in, shaking his head. "Your mother will bear the burnt; I can not allow that."

"This has nothing to do with Mum; this is your mistake; you have to fix it once and for all," Samuel did not agree with his father. He knew that the man wanted the secret buried for life.

"What do you mean? If I come out to confess to this, how will your mother raise her head in the future?" Mr Sky remains stubborn.

"So, do you want to wait until someone puts it out there?" Samuel asked. His parent had told him about his half-brother five years ago. His mother has been aware of what happened years ago. His father was not a person who knew how to keep secrets. Moreover, what happened back then was not entirely his fault.

"I will step down and allow you to take over the company entirely. This way, we can ensure that there will not be a second time. Besides, even if we put on the new announcement, it will not affect Steam so much," Mr Sky said.

"Dad, do you really believe that your stepping down will stop the Browns? Look at how the young man talked to you; we both know they don't have a moral line," Samuel said.

"No matter what, ABM will not go too far; they will definitely give us a little respect," Mr Sky said

"Really? " Samuel did not believe his father's words a little.

"Yes, we the Sky are not a pushover; we can fight back," Mr Sky replied.

"I don't believe you," Samuel shook his head. Mr Sky was surprised by his reaction. "Dad, you said the same thing when I asked about signing the contract with Steam. ABM dare to threaten you this much. They have already pushed you so much. Can't you see that doing this is like giving them the power to make more demands in the future? What if they ask for our software secret? Would you ask me to hand it over to them in order to protect your unintentional mistake?" Samuel asked. He was totally convicted by Emily's suggestion.

"So what? I told you already that family comes before money in our family," Mr Sky argued.

"Father, you raised me as a Christian and said that as Christians, we should work honestly. Don't forget that the Bible encourages us to confess our sins one to another," Samuel argued.

Mr Sky was uncomfortable with letting his secret out. He knew many people would kick at him if he went down. Not that he cared so much about himself at this point, he worried about what would happen to his wife.

"I already confessed what has happened to my wife; she is the only person I owe an explanation concerning this matter. This is just a bit of money; we can afford to lose it," Mr Sky said after a short pause.

"I am not worried about that bit of money; I am worried about the power we would lose to ABM for this little secret. However, we both know that it will not affect our company in the country if we break the news," Samuel tried to convince his father.

"I said no, " Mr Sky insisted.

"Dad, will you allow your mistake to hold you down like this? Say that we dance to ABM tone; Emily also knows this secret. Are you not scared that she will unintentionally release it? Besides, the more we try to hide something, the more mistakes we make. Set yourself free from the guilt and sha... Samuel was still speaking when his father cut him off.

" enough, My decision is final," Mr Sky replied. Just then, the door was pushed open.

"Mum"

"Sweetheart"

The two men called out. Grace raised her brows and walked over to join them on the sofa.

"Why are you here?" Mr Sky asked.

"What? I can't even visit my husband anymore?" Grace raised her brows and looked at her husband. She could tell that the two were in a heated argument from the atmosphere.

"I did not mean that. I am happy that you are here," Mr Sky smiled. He was grateful that the room was soundproof; he did not want her to hear their conversation.

"Oh, your reaction says otherwise," she replied. Grace was not fooled. She had been married to her husband long enough to know when he was hiding something. It was fortunate that the Secretary did not announce her arrival; otherwise, she was sure he would have hidden his emotions before she got in.

"What do you mean? I am happy to see you on my worst days. You are always like a ball of sunshine making my world beautiful," Mr Sky flatters her.

Grace blushed, hearing all his complement. She would have immediately forgotten about the situation if her son was not sitting there awkwardly.

"What are you trying to hide from me?" Grace asked, looking at Samuel's unease state. It was written all over his face. She was not going to allow them to fool her.

"Nothing," Mr Sky replied and shot his son a warning look. He thought he had been careful enough. But unfortunately, Grace focused on him, so she did not miss his subtle action.

"Tell me, I noticed your gaze ?" Grace looked at her husband; she had a feeling that the situation might be connected to her.

"You imagine things in your head...

" Dad is being threatened by ABM," Samuel ignored his father's warning.

"You," Mr Sky was angry at his son.

"Tell me about it,' Grace also ignored her husband.

"Sweetheart, Samuel is making a mountain out of the mould. So you don't have to bother about it," Mr Sky felt like beating up his son, but he smiled at his wife.

"Samuel, talk to mummy; your father always tries to shield me; this is related to the family, right?" Grace asked. She knew Samuel would not have ignored her husband if it concerned the company.

"Look at the time, Sweetheart. Are you not afraid you will be going late to Bible study?" Mr Sky said, not giving room for Samuel to say anything.

"I have an hour to spare before bible study; if the time is not enough, you can tell me the rest on the way to church," Grace saw through her husband's thought.
