Chapter 44 You shouldn't come here

Before he could say anything else, she rushed out of the kitchen.

Tang Ning ran off to the washroom and on reaching, she locked herself inside before running to the sink. She was feeling all hot and sweaty as a result of the toe curling kiss she had experienced. She had no idea that her first kiss could be this great and that with none other than her boss. She couldn't deny that he was a great kisser, on top of him being so handsome. It made her wonder what else he was good at, and realizing what she was thinking, she immediately turned on the faucet and poured water in her face, washing off her makeup. When it didn't work on cooling off the heat, she poured some water in her head and she took a deep breath.

How was she going to look at him again, she asked herself.

Walking back to the party, she realized that they were organising to cut the cake. Her eyes searched for him and when she didn't see him, she wondered if he was still in the kitchen.

She wrapped her hands around her arms, as she felt the cold wind prick her skin. Some strands of her hair had turned wet and it didn't help either. She also felt her legs hurt and she had the urge to get rid of the heels. She couldn't wait for the party to come to the end. As she was still in her trance, she felt something drop on her shoulders and she immediately turned around startled.

"Did I scare you?" Jing Yue asked and she slowly nodded before saying," Thank you but you didn't have to." "You were feeling cold," he said and he stepped closer before adjusting the jacket he had placed on her shoulders.

Afterwards, he stepped back and the two stood in silence, with only low music that was playing in the background. Tang Ning kept her head low, and she prayed for something to happen, such that she could escape the awkward situation. "Tang Ning," she heard her name being called and she turned to see Jin Fei walking to where they were.

"You got me worried. Where were you?" she asked. "I-I was in the washroom," she replied before saying," I'm sorry for worrying you."

"It's okay, I'm glad you are fine," she looked at Jing Yue and asked," Do you want to accompany Lian in cutting the cake?"

At the question, Jing Yue shook her head and she said," I knew you would say no, I was just trying." Looking at Tang Ning she asked," Do you want to?"

Tang Ning who had been waiting for an opportunity to escape the situation agreed readily and said," Sure. I would love to."

She followed Jin Fei not looking back to glance at Jing Yue who had remained behind alone.

When the party finally came to the end, all the guests walked to their respective cars such that they could leave.

"Daddy, let's sleep here. You will come for us tomorrow," said little Huan who didn't want to leave the Jin residence yet.

"No Jing Huan we have to go back home. School is resuming next week," he said. She then turned to look at Jin Liwei and said," Uncle Jin, tell Daddy to leave us here." "Huan, be a good girl and get in the car," said her father and she pursed her lips then walked to the car, sulking.

"So then I will be waiting for you tomorrow," Jing Yue informed Jin Liwei who nodded and he walked to the car. Getting in the driver's seat, he looked back and saw Tang Ning who was carrying the sleeping Juan. He then started the car before driving away.

Tang Ning leaned her head against the seat as she closed her eyes and soon, she also dosed off due to exhaustion.

A long while later, she woke up and she looked outside to see that they were almost home. Sitting upright, she caught sight of a car that had parked in front of the gate.

Jing Yue who was also in wonder of who it was stopped his car and he saw a guard approaching him.

"Welcome back master," he said. "Who is it?" he asked. "He came looking for the lady, Ms Tang Ning and we informed him that she wasn't in. He thought that we were lying and he said that he wasn't moving away."

Tang Ning's eyes widened at the information and she wondered who could be looking for her here, and this late.

She looked at the vehicle once again and she realized that it was for Feng Shufen. What was he doing here? she asked herself.

Turning to look at Tang Ning, Jing Yue asked," Do you know him?" "Uh, yes. I think it's Feng Shufen," she said looking at him guiltily. He gestured for the guard to leave and he did.

"I swear that I refused him to come here. Let me go and see what he wants to say. It might be about my father," she said and when he didn't reply, she took it that he had accepted.

She carefully placed Juan on the seat before opening the door and walked towards the car.

Feng Shufen opened the door the moment he saw her and walked to find her. "So it's true you were not in. Where are you coming from?" he asked taking in her appearance. "I'm coming from a birthday celebration," she informed before asking,"Why are you here? Is something wrong with father?" "Not at all. You should relax," he said and she released a sigh of relief. "What are you doing here then?" she asked. "I came to see you. You look so beautiful Tang Ning," he said.

"Thank you but I told you already that you shouldn't come here," she said and she watched him look behind her. On turning, she saw Jing Yue walking to where they were and she turned to look at him," You're going to bring me problems."
