Chapter 29 To happen again

When she saw his eyes settling on her lips, she bit her bottom lip in an attempt to hide them but it only fuelled the situation.

Seeing him bring his hand to her face, she instinctively closed her eyes. She then felt him tuck a strand of her hair behind her ear.

His fingers brushed her cheek before they trailed downwards and grazed the sensitive area below her ear. Subconsciously leaning to his touch, she shuddered and goosebumps covered her skin. His fingers continued with their movement until they touched her lips, his thumb gently caressing her bottom lip and she parted them.

A while later when she felt no other movement, she opened her dewy eyes and she saw his face so close to hers.

Was he going to kiss her?!! her mind screamed.

He leaned forward closer and closer, until their faces were only a few inches away. When his nose touched hers, she instinctively closed her eyes.

She then felt his hands settle on either sides of her waist before pulling her away from the counter such that she was in his arms, close to him. He rubbed his nose slowly and gently against hers, and she parted her lips as if inviting him.

Their lips were yet to touch when they heard the door open and a small voice," Pretty auntie!"

Jing Yue immediately pulled away and Tang Ning came out of her stupor. "Daddy! You're here!" exclaimed little Huan who hadn't known that he had come back and she ran to him.

Looking at her nanny, she said," Aunt Ning, I am done with my assignment. Where's the cake?" "Y-yes. The cake," she mumbled before running to the fridge. Opening the fridge, she took a deep breath and she gripped the handle. What had she done?! Looking inside, she realized that she had already removed it and she cursed. Her whole mind had been messed up.

Coming back, she found that Jing Yue had already left. At least he wasn't around to mess her up more, she thought. "Aunt Ning, what were you doing with Daddy?"

Her eyes widened and she turned to look at her then said," Y-your daddy was removing something that got stuck in my eyes." She internally cursed. "Oh okay," she replied and before she could speak more, Tang Ning handed her a plate with two slices on them and she said," Take one for Juan."

She nodded and left then Tang Ning leaned against the counter. A while later when she had calmed down, she went to her room and locked the door before leaning against it. She couldn't believe that her boss was about to kiss her and she had let him. What were the both of them thinking?

If it wasn't for little Huan to interrupt then, God knows what would have happened.

She walked to sit on her bed and she decided that she was not going to have dinner.

Jing Yue came from the bath and he changed to casual clothes before sitting on the bed. He didn't know what happened to him earlier, but he didn't regret it. In fact, his only regret right now was not being able to finish what he had started. He knew for sure that the new nanny stirred him up and he couldn't tell if it was real or just lust. Deep inside, he was in a dilemma because if it was real, he didn't know if he was ready to replace his dear late wife. The feeling scared him and he didn't know how he was going to handle the situation.

He later stood up so that he could go for dinner. Reaching the table, it was only the three of them and he wondered if she was not going to eat. Asking the maid to call her, she later came back and said that she wasn't hungry.

A long while later when Tang Ning was sure that they were done with dinner, she went to the twins' rooms and after putting them to sleep, she came out to leave for her room when she found her boss on the stairs.

She didn't have anywhere to hide at the moment. Instinctively, she turned around and was planning to go back when he called her. "Tang Ning," she heard him call and she halted. Tang Ning? Were they that close now? She turned around to look at him. She took time to see that he was dressed in black slack pants and a white undershirt that hugged his arms. "You didn't have dinner," he said when he reached her. "I-I wasn't hungry," she said. "Are you sure?" he asked and she nodded. "Alright. Uh, I want to apologise about what- " "It was nothing Mr Jing Yue really. It was a mistake which we should never allow to happen again," she said.

Before he could speak back, his phone rang so loudly and on seeing the caller, she asked for a moment to pick it because it was important.

Tang Ning used this opportunity to escape from him and she ran back to her room. She couldn't deny the truth that he was affecting her and if she was earlier doubting her growing feelings for him, she was now sure about it and it scared her. She knew that these feelings were taking her nowhere. She was once again in contemplation wondering whether it was a wise decision coming to work here.

By the time Jing Yue finished talking on phone, he realized that she had left. He wanted to go to her room so that they could talk but he decided to spare the conversation for another day knowing that she needed some time for herself.

The following morning when Tang Ning was from having breakfast with the twins, she received a call from her father's care taker.

Answering it almost immediately, she said," Hello?" "Ms Tang Ning. Your father, he's not doing well." "What happened to father?!" she asked, alarmed. "I found him unconscious when I took his medicine to his room and right now, I have just called an ambulance." "What?! I-I am on my way," she said before hanging up.
