Chapter 24 Best way to wake you up

Tang Ning turned to stare at her boss questioningly. "I'm staying?" she asked as if to confirm. "Yes. Sit back," he said pointing to the couch and she pondered over his words before walking and she did as told. She wondered what he wanted to discuss with her.

She patiently waited for him and a while later, he got up then walked out of the office.

"What does he mean by that?" she asked herself. Not long after, the door was opened and in came the secretary who had the little one to the rooftop.

"Where's little Huan?" asked Tang Ning.

"I left her with someone," she informed before adding," I was told to come and aid you." "Aid me?" she asked confused. "Yes," she replied before saying," Come with me this side."

Tang Ning whose confusion had multiplied stood up and followed the secretary who walked to the extension of the office and she caught sight of another door.

When the secretary opened it, she stepped inside and switched on the lights.

"Come in," she heard her say and on entering, she saw that it was another self contained room. It had everything a person could need from a bed, sofa, a gigantic LED TV, a fridge and others. She realized that this is where her boss sleeps when he doesn't return home.

Looking at the secretary, she asked," Why did you bring me here?"

"It's because you need to change your clothes. Tell me the sanitary napkins you use and I will get them for you," she spoke. "Sanitary napkins?!" she asked surprised and when realisation hit her, she immediately rushed to the dressing mirror and looked at her back. She caught sight of a big stain of blood that had marked her white sweater pants and her eyes widened in shock.

Swallowing, she looked back at the secretary and asked,"Did Mr Jing Yue tell you?!"

"Yes. He told me to come and aid you," she informed. Tang Ning clutched her hair frustratedly. She had thought that she had been embarrassed enough the other time but she was wrong. So this was the reason why he told her to sit? Because he had seen the stain, she thought.

"Miss, I need you to tell me," the secretary interrupted her from her thoughts.

"Oh yes. I'm sorry."

When she left, Tang Ning remained in the lounge standing as she leaned her back against the wall and she wondered how she was going to face her boss. Aside from that, she was experiencing heavy cramps and she always had to take pain killers before her periods but she had totally forgotten about it this time.

Almost an hour later the secretary came back with a shopping bag and handed it to her.

"I'm sorry for taking long. It took time to get them," she said. Looking inside the bag, she caught sight of the sanitary napkins, a knicker and a dress. "The bathroom is just there," she informed. "Where?" she turned to see another door. "Thank you," she replied and as she went inside, the secretary left to go and finish some work.

On reaching the bathroom, she was glad to find all the toiletries and she took a bath before changing into the dress.

By the time she came back, her cramps had changed from bad to worse and she sat on the couch that was in the room.

She needed painkillers but she feared to get out of the lounge as she didn't know if her boss was back in his office and at the same time, she didn't want to disturb the secretary again.

When it became unbearable for her, she laid on the couch and curled her body into a ball as she wrapped her hands around her stomach.

A long while later when it clocked eight, Jing Yue finished his work and he glanced at Huan who was knocked out and sleeping at the couch. He then glanced at the door of his private lounge and he wondered what Tang Ning was doing. He got up and went to the door then knocked on it. When he got no response, he opened the door and on getting inside, he caught sight of her curling her body on the couch. Walking over, she was sleeping and on closer looking, she had furrowed her eyebrows as though she was in pain. Her lips were slightly parted and she was mumbling something he couldn't get clearly. But he was sure that he heard her say,' Papa.' He didn't want to disturb her from sleep but they had to go back home.

He reached for her head and placed his hand in her hair, stroking her silky hair gently in an attempt to wake her up. But instead of waking up, she just moaned and said," Hmmm. That's more like it." When he continued stroking her hair as his fingers massaged her scalp, she slowly opened her eyes and on seeing who was touching her, she gasped and sat up immediately.

"Mr Jing Yue," she whispered before searching down for her sneakers. He stood up straight and tucked his hands in his pockets before saying," It was time for us to go and I thought it was the best way to wake you up."

She wiped the corner of her mouth for any possible drool and she said," I'm so- sorry."

He noticed that she had gasped amidst her sentence and she clutched her stomach hard.

"You're alright?" he asked and she was quick to nod. "Let's go then," he said and she stood up. Seeing her in a dress for the first time, he realized that she looked totally different.

Reaching his office, he scooped his Sleeping daughter in his arms and he led the way out.

She held the bag in her hands that contained the dirty clothes she had come dressed in.

Reaching the parking lot, he walked to his car and she realized that they were going to travel back together.
