Epilogue

It had been several days since Evangeline had been found and Nikolai killed. The first day that Evangeline was home she did nothing but sleep and eat. Once she was fully rested she started calling all of the people that she knew around the world. She told them the plan and they all agreed. They would all hit the camps in their cities at the same time.

It was the day that they would be taking the camps down. Everyone was in position. She had everyone on a group call so that there would be no mistakes. She quietly spoke into her earpiece that was connected to her phone. "Is everyone in position?"

She heard all of the responses through the headset. "We're all set." "Clear." "Ready."

When she was sure that everyone was ready she gave the go-ahead. They all stormed inside the camps and took down any assassin or soldier that came their way. Most of the assassins that were there were newer and simply threw their weapons down and surrendered. Any fully trained assassins ran once they realized that they were overwhelmed. Evangeline and her team got all of the younger children out of the camp before burning it to the ground. Every single one of her allies that were at the other camps around the world did the same. Emptied the camps and burned them to the ground.

Evangeline stood a bit of ways away from the burning camp and watched. She knew that all of the other camps were burning just as this one was. Including the one that she had been tortured and tormented at. She knew that she wasn't there but she pretended that she was. Since all of the camps were the same she pictured the room that she had in the camp before she left. She felt a sense of relief as she watched the camp burn right before her eyes. It was as if that part of her life was finally ending. She hadn't realized just how hard it was to breathe before that moment. Before she was finally able to take a deep breath and feel as if a weight had been lifted from her chest.

She turned to Alessandro with a small smile. "Let's go home." She whispered.

He grinned as he took her hand in his and led her towards their cars. They climbed in and made their way home.

That following week Evangeline had been quite emotional and she wasn't sure why. She had been sitting in their bay window, reading one of her favorite romance novels when she started crying. Alessandro walked into the room and frowned when he spotted the tears racing down her cheeks. He rushed over to her and knelt in front of her. "What's wrong my little angel?" He asked in a worried tone.

She shook her head. "I don't know." She whispered with a sigh. "I should be happy because Nikolai and the camps are gone, and believe me no one is happier than I am, but I feel like something is missing. I don't know how to explain it." She said softly.

He gently pushed her hair behind her ears and pressed a kiss to her forehead. "I think I know what might be missing." He said softly. He gently tugged on her hands to get her to stand. "Come with me."

Alessandro had noticed that Evangeline had been a bit upset even though they had taken down Nikolai and his camps. At first, he didn't understand why. She was happy when they had first taken down the camps, but something changed. It took him almost an entire day but he finally figured it out with the help of Jaxon and Sabrina. He remembered that conversation perfectly.

"What do you think is wrong with her?" He asked Jaxon. "You know her so well."

Jaxon scoffed. "I do know her very well but she usually kept her emotions to herself during the time that we were together. However," He said as he twirled around in his chair. "Since I do know her quite well I can guess why she's so upset."

"Who's so upset?" Sabrina asked as she walked into the room.

Alessandro sighed heavily as Jaxon smirked. "Evangeline seems to be quite upset and Alessandro here can't seem to figure out why."

Sabrina let out a laugh. "Do you want to guess as to why she's upset?" She asked as she sat down with her legs thrown over the arm of the chair that she chose to sit in.

Jaxon clicked his tongue. "I'm pretty sure it has to do with some of the people that she's helped go into hiding." He tilted his head slightly to the side as he thought for a minute. "My best guess would be Ethan and his family."

Alessandro frowned. "That family that she had helped go into hiding when Nikolai ordered her to kill them?" He demanded.

Jaxon gave him a nod. "Yeah. She got extremely close to them while she was laying low to make sure Nikolai didn't catch on too quickly."

"Why would she be upset about them though?"Alessandro asked in confusion. "They're free to do what they want and go where they want."

Sabrina rolled her eyes. "That's the point, Alessandro. They can go wherever they want but they aren't here."

Jaxon nodded his agreement. "She misses them. They became family to her." He explained.

Alessandro nodded in understanding as a plan started to form in his mind.

***************************************************************************************************************

He had put his plan into motion almost as soon as the idea had formed in his mind. He called Ethan and his family and talked them into joining them in Milan, at least for a little while. They had gotten on a plan as soon as they got off the phone. They were missing Evangeline just as much as she was missing them.

Now he was leading Evangeline through the house to be reunited with them. "Alessandro, where are we going?" She asked, using the nickname that she had given him shortly after meeting him.

He shushed her. "Just be patient." He moved to stand behind her and covered her eyes with his hands. "Trust me." He whispered into her ear.

She laughed as she leaned into him. "I do trust you, my love." She said as he helped her walked into the living room.

He removed one of his hands from her eyes and pressed a finger to his lips, signaling to the people in the room to be quiet. "Okay, little angel. Keep your eyes closed until I say so."

She sighed impatiently. "What is going on, love?" She demanded as she kept her eyes closed.

"It's a surprise." He said with a grin as he removed his other hand from her eyes. He moved to stand in front of her and pressed a kiss to her forehead. "Okay. Open your eyes." He whispered as he pressed his forehead against hers.

She opened them and furrowed her eyebrows as she looked into his eyes. "As much as I love you and your eyes I take it this isn't my surprise." She said as she gently gripped his upper arms.

He chuckled. "You'd be correct. They're your surprise." He said as he moved to stand next to her.

She gasped when she saw them. "Oh my god." She said as tears left streak marks down her cheeks. She rushed forward and pulled Savannah and Liam into her arms. "I can't believe that you guys are actually here."

Savannah let out a breathless laugh. "We were planning on coming out here anyway but your boyfriend helped us get out here a lot sooner."

Evangeline sobbed in joy as she hugged Savannah and Liam tighter. "I am so happy that you guys are all here. I have missed you so much."

Savannah hugged her back with her free arm and softly said. "We've missed you too Eva. So damn much."

Evangeline let go of Savannah and Liam and moved to hug Ethan. He hugged her tightly and whispered into her hair. "Thank you so much for freeing us."

She sniffled as she pulled back and looked up at him. "How did you know about that?"

He scoffed. "Your mafia man over there told us everything that happened." He gave her a brotherly glare as he said. "I can't believe that you let yourself get taken by that monster."

She groaned as she looked at Alessandro. "You told him everything? You couldn't have just told him that I took care of Nikolai and the camps?"

Alessandro chuckled as he walked over to her and pulled her into his arms. "I'm sure he would have heard about it at some point anyway."

She shrugged. "Could've waited." She mumbled.

He chuckled again and pressed a kiss to her temple. "How about we all get some food and just enjoy each other's company for a bit?" He asked as he pulled away from her.

She nodded. "I am starving."

Savannah laughed. "You're always starving."

Evangeline stuck her tongue out at Savannah before they all made their way into the kitchen.

As they were eating Savannah grabbed Evangeline's hand and said. "Eva. There's something that Ethan and I have been wanting to ask you for some time now."

"What is it?" Evangeline asked as she set her fork down on her plate.

"We've been wanting to ask you, but we just never knew how to ask you. Or how you would react." She took a deep breath before saying. "I know Liam is already almost four years old but we figured that it's never too late."

She was rambling and Evangeline could tell that she was nervous. So she placed her hand over Savannah's and said. "Savvy, just ask me already."

"Okay geez," Savannah said playfully, causing everyone to laugh. "Ethan and I were wondering if you would be Liam's godmother." She finally got out with a bright smile.

Evangeline's smile stretched from one ear to the other as she took in what Savannah had just asked her. She could feel the joy and excitement coursing through her veins as she threw her arms around Savannah and hugged her tightly. "Of course, I'd be honored to be his godmother."

Savannah let out a joyous laugh as she hugged Evangeline just as tightly. "We love you, Eva," Savannah whispered into her ear.

Evangeline couldn't smile brighter even if she tried. "I love you guys too."

After they finished eating they spent time together until the sky was pitch black and the stars were all out. When they realized how late it was they went to bed.

The next day they woke up and met in the kitchen. Everyone in the house was joyful and relieved. There had been so much stress just hanging in the air of the house that it was causing everyone to become stressed and uncomfortable. Now that Evangeline had been found everyone could relax and spend time with their families.

Alessandro pulled Jaxon to the side. "Do you think I can talk to you privately for a minute?" He asked as he folded his arms over his chest.

Jaxon nodded. "Sure thing."

Alessandro led the way to his office and shut the door once they were both through the doorway. "What did you need to talk about?" Jaxon asked as he sat down.

"There is still a threat to Evangeline's life." He said as he sat down in his chair behind the desk. "I want to handle this quietly so Evangeline doesn't know about it. She's been through so much already. She doesn't need to add this onto the plate of shit she's had to deal with." He explained.

Jaxon frowned. "What other threat is there?" He demanded.

Alessandro exhaled loudly as he ran a hand through his hair. "I have this rival. He used to just be a menace but he's been trying to take me down ever since he killed everyone in my family except my brother. He wants Milan and now that he knows I've met my saving angel he will do everything in his power to take her from me."

"So you need him eliminated so that she stays safe and doesn't have to worry about him." Jaxon summed up as he relaxed in the chair.

Alessandro gave him a single nod. "His mafia family can join ours if they pledge their loyalties to me and Evangeline, but he needs to die."

Jaxon shrugged. "I can do it for you. I'll take the twins and we'll get it done. No mess. No questions asked."

Alessandro grinned. "Perfect." He stood up and walked over to him. He patted him on the shoulder. "I want to be there to kill Enzo though. After what he did to my family I have earned that right."

Jaxon nodded as he stood up. "We'll do some recon and find the most vulnerable spots in his fortress. We'll let you know when we find something."

Alessandro shook his hand. "Thank you, Jaxon."

Jaxon gave him a fiery determined look. "Anything for Evangeline."

Without waiting for any type of response he left the office and went to find Madison and Nick.

Alessandro went into the kitchen and found Evangeline still at the table with Savannah. He sat down next to her and pressed a kiss to her temple. "How are you feeling angel?" He asked softly.

She shrugged. "I feel sluggish actually. I'm exhausted and starving." She said quietly.

"Not to mention moody," Ethan said from his seat across the table.

Alessandro frowned in concern. "Maybe we should take you to see the doctor." He said as he pulled her close.

She waved him off. "I'll rest today and tomorrow. If I still feel like this or worse I'll go see the doctor." She promised him before going back to her meal.

He shrugged it off for the time being, but he would make sure that Savannah and Sabrina both helped keep a close eye on her to make sure that she was okay.

It didn't take Jaxon, Nick, and Madison very long to find the weakest part of Enzo's fortress. Once they did, they left in an SUV with Alessandro and Richard. It didn't take them too long to get to Enzo's small fortress. When they arrived Jaxon parked the SUV off to the side. They quietly made their way into a small side entrance that was left wide open. They snuck inside and Alessandro was shocked that there was no security. It was so easy for them to make their way through the halls and to Enzo's office.

They barged into the office and Alessandro scoffed as he found Enzo alone. "You know for a mafia boss you sure suck at making sure your fortress is protected," Alessandro said as he prowled into the office with three of the deadliest assassins behind him.

Enzo groaned as he swiveled around in his chair to look at him. "How did you get in here?" He demanded.

Alessandro rolled his eyes as he walked towards the window with his arms folded behind his back. "You don't have any security at the side entrance of this fortress of yours. My friends and I were able to slip inside with such ease it was almost embarrassing." He tilted his head slightly to the side as he kept an eye on Enzo. "Then to top it off you don't have any men in the halls or guarding your office."

Enzo groaned again as he threw his head back against his chair. "Why are you here Galeazzi?" He demanded.

Alessandro glared at him as he fully faced him with his arms crossed over his chest. "You know exactly why I'm here, Moretti." He said as he ground his teeth together.

Enzo smirked as he put his hands behind his head. "I'm sure I don't know what you mean." He said tauntingly.

Alessandro let out a snarl as he took a step closer to Enzo. "You tried to help Nikolai Petrov take my saving angel from me." He said as he slowly walked closer to Enzo."You've had men watching her for a while now. You had a spy in my house that gave you information to try and take me down." He stood directly in front of Enzo as he leaned down and put his hands on the armrests of his chair and got so close to his face that their noses were almost touching. "I know for a fact that you will try to take her from me again." He said in a deathly quiet voice. "Unfortunately for you, I am not going to let that happen."

Before Enzo could do anything to protest or protect himself Alessandro pulled his favorite blade out of its sheath at his back and jammed it into Enzo's chest, piercing his heart straight through to his back.

Alessandro stood there and watched the life fade from Enzo's eyes. Only when he was sure that he was dead did he pull his knife free and stand up straight. He looked towards the assassins and smirked. "How did you guys do?" He asked as he slid his blade back into its sheath.

While he had been busy with Enzo, the assassin friends that he brought with him went through the house to take care of everyone else. "Most of them surrendered and pledged their loyalties to you and Evangeline. The rest decided to just leave Milan. They swore up and down that they wouldn't cause any problems." Jaxon explained.

Alessandro nodded and walked towards them. "Let's get out of here then. My queen is waiting." He said with a wide grin.

They left the building and made their way back to their house.

Evangeline hadn't been feeling well for the last few days. After getting sick several times throughout the day she decided to go see the doctor. She knocked on the door and walked inside with a small smile. "Hi there, doc." She said softly.

The doctor smiled. "Hello, Evangeline. Is everything okay?" He asked politely.

Evangeline sighed heavily. "I'm hoping you can tell me." She said as she played with her hair. "I haven't been feeling very well and I've been throwing up for a majority of the day."

The doctor frowned. "What are your other symptoms?" He asked as she sat down across from him.

"Major fatigue. I feel like I'm always starving. I've had a fever the last couple of days. Then the vomiting." She explained as she played with her fingers in her lap.

The doctor leaned back in his chair with a small smile. "It sounds like you're pregnant." He said softly.

Her eyes went wide. "Pregnant?" She asked in shock.

He nodded and stood up. He went to a cabinet and pulled out a pregnancy test. "Take this test and we'll know for sure. If it comes back positive then come back and we can start the care process for you. As well as seeing how far along you are. If it comes back negative then we'll have to run some tests to figure out what's wrong with you."

Evangeline nodded and took the test as she stood up. "Thank you, doctor."

She made her way to her room and went straight to the bathroom. She took the pregnancy test and did everything that the box told her to. She waited the five minutes that it told her to. She was a nervous wreck the entire time that she was waiting. When the timer went off to signal that it was time she hesitated. She wasn't sure if she wanted the test to be positive or negative.

She took a deep breath and snatched it off the counter. She slowly let her breath out as she looked down and read what the test said. Her eyes widened in shock as she slowly slid to the floor. She sat there on her knees with her hand over her mouth and tears in her eyes. And that was how Alessandro found her when he got home. "Evie." He said as he rushed to her and knelt next to her. "What's the matter? What happened?" He asked as he tried to look her over.

She shook her head and looked up at him. "Nothing's wrong, my love." She whispered.

He frowned. "Then why are you crying on the bathroom floor?" He demanded.

She simply held the test out to him. He took it from her and looked at it. He didn't say anything for almost five minutes. When he finally spoke up his voice was raspy with unshed tears. "Is this true? Is it correct?"

She nodded with a smile. "Yes, it is." She took a deep breath. "We're going to be parents." She whispered.

His eyes widened and he finally looked away from the pregnancy test. "I'm going to be a father?" He asked in shocked astonishment.

She let out a giggle and nodded. "Yes. You're going to be a daddy."

"I'm going to be a daddy." He said in a daze.

She laughed as he quickly jumped to his feet and started rushing through the house, shouting at the top of his lungs. "I'm going to be a daddy!"

She laughed as she stood in the doorway of their bedroom. He finally stopped in front of her and pressed a firm kiss to her lips. "Oh, you have no idea how happy you have just made me my little angel." He said as he pressed his forehead against hers. "Do you know how far along you are?" He asked as he looked into her eyes.

She shook her head. "No, we'll have to go and talk to the doctor. Check to see how far along I am and then get me started on the vitamins and whatnot." She explained.

He nodded with a wide smile. "I swear to you, my little angel," He said softly. "I will do everything in my power to keep you and our child safe. No matter what it takes."

She smiled brightly. "I know you will, my savior." She whispered.

He kissed her lips softly. "I love you, my little angel." He said softly with his lips lightly touching hers.

Her smile stretched further over her face. "I love you too, my savior." She let out a small laugh. "I am so thankful that I ran into your brother that night all those years ago."

He chuckled. "Oh, I am too. You have no idea how happy I am that he found you and decided to help you."

She shook her head with that wide smile on her face. "It was meant to be."

"It was destiny." He said in agreement.
