Chapter 4 Wait

In an exclusive well suited office, with it wonderful and warming view of the world through the transparent glass, the office could be said to be well fitted, everything and everyone within it was perfect like it was meant to be there. Sitting in his chair going through the files on his table, while Vincent discusses with him about the rise and fall of their company stocks.

"Zech, you know Mr James is trying very much possible in every way to bring down our company, his been watching our every move, now the stocks are not too favorable, we need to act fast and create a stronger signature perfume, one that he wouldn't be able to copy".

"I know that Vin, but first we have to go fishing". Zech said with a grim on his face. "How can you think about going to fish in such a moment"? Vin said annoyed.

"You're always so quick witted, what happened today?, well let me break it down for you, we're fishing out the mole in the company".

"oh.." Vin had a knowing look on his face, showing he now understood what Zech meant.

"yeah, seems we've been lacking for a while now, let put on some show".

" You're right, but we need to lure him or her out by baiting something". He said looking at zech.

"Yeah, I already have the perfect plan in motion already". He looks at his wrist watch, smiling wolfishly, "it time, the fish has taken the bait", he stands up heading towards the door nonchalantly.

"what do you mean by that? Vin asked looking at him, oh Vin just shut up, you ask too much questions, follow me will you"? "fine" Vin said outwardly, they both leaving the office only to see Rachel standing outside the door.

Zech smirks, "follow me", was all he told her as he walking away not giving her a chance to reply.

Walking into the elevator, it took them to the 10th floor that is where the perfume inventory department is located, it consist of R&D(Research and development)team, they all walked in heading straight to the R&D lab.

Rachel POV.

As we walked into the building, I couldn't stop my mouth from falling wide open, as the sight before me was magnificent,everyone I saw was busy with their work, the scent I perceived in the air was beyond what I could have ever imagined, I took my time savoring the scent and the atmosphere of the place, I saw different kinds of perfume, different advanced tools used for perfume making, one I'd never seen before, then I saw a lemon color filling the air, I close my eyes to check if I was actually dreaming then, I opened again it was gone, I kept savoring the smell till a loud noise snapped me from my thoughts.

I turned only to see a glass shatter on the ground, I look ahead to see a middle aged man in his late forties on his knees crying and apologizing to Zech, I though maybe the man had mildly offended him.

I was stunned at what I saw, how could a man that was older than him enough to be his senior be on his knees, doesn't matter if his the boss respect matters a lot, and his was just looking so coldly at the man like he had actually committed murder or a grave since against him.

"So you're the one whose been providing my enemy with information"? he said coldly with a deep scowl on his face.

I was shocked at what I had just heard, he was a mole? one thing I know about moles they can lead to the destruction of a company if care is not taken, now I understand why he had such looks on his face, I was quick to judge with out overseeing the whole situation.

"no!, no sir, I… I would never, I only came to check on the perfume, I wouldn't dare", the man said shivering with fear.

"Really? but you fell right into my trap", anger clouded his face as he spoke without any warmth in his voice, the whole atmosphere turned chilly and suffocating due to his anger.

"I - I was forced sir, I would never betray you sir, my loyalty lies with you sir please believe me".

"Vin he called out in a cold voice, you know how to deal with such people". he told vin and starts to walk away without looking back.

"I never expect Mr Chris to the mole", one of the female employee whispered, but I could hear her as I was standing not far from her, "yes, he was always so nice and kind hearted", another chipped in.

"yes, but now we have lost this perfume it took us weeks just to develop this, it going to take a long time to come up with a new idea, and the next show is in three days", another male said, "I wonder how Mr Oliver will deal with this"?. The whispers were getting more and more loud, then I shouted in a loud voice.

"Wait!!", Zech turned towards my direction, same goes for every other person,all looking at me with a confused face.

"Do you have something to say? Miss Rachel", Vin asked me surprised at my sudden outburst of words.

"Yes.. yes I do", I said stammering and then I continued, "I know his caused a lot of damage to the company, and Also you lost the perfume and I know it takes longer to come up with new ideas, but" they all stare at me with curiosity written on their face, only Zech look at me plainly and coldly not wanting to waste more time listening to my nonsense. "I know there are consequences for his actions, but,

I can make up for the lost perfume".

my words stirs up louder murmurs, as some where surprised at my declaration, while some where looking at me with scorn in their eyes.

"Who does she think she is"? a lady said with jealousy laced in her voice, "she's new and she already wants to stand out", the lady beside her said and chuckles.

"Miss Rachel, that a big thing to say, there's no way you will be able to Come up with ideas, and also create a perfume in three days", Vin said to me.

I smiled at his words, "I don't need to", finally he spoke "What do you mean by that"?

my heart was already pounding so damn fast, and as fear took hold on me, but i didn't back down i knew within me i could do it, "well I already have designs and also I have started making one it just needs a little finishing touch and it ready to go", I said confidently, smiling from one end of my mouth to the other.

"Do you think this is some kind of joke"? he asked me in a very cold manner,I could tell from his face that he didn't trust me one bit at the moment, "or you think just any perfume will work as a signature perfume in my company".

"He's right miss Rachel, this is a once in a life time signature perfume and we want nothing less than perfect, do you really think you can pull it off"?

After hearing what they had to say, I was beginning to lose hope as my smile fades slowly, but a thought spark in me, No Rachel, this is your chance to prove your wroth you can't give up. "If I can't make one to satisfy you, I'll resign from my job, just give me two days to complete the formula and I'll bring it to you", I promise, she said raising her three fingers in the air.

Vin turned to look at Zech for approval, but Zech kept looking at her, "two days", he said and walked out, Vin turned to Chris, "I'll be watching, you have just two days". He said sternly and walked away. every other person returned to their respective jobs still talking about Rachel.

Mr Chris rushed to Rachel still kneeling and thanking her, "Thank you very much miss, I don't know how to thank you",

"please stand up sir, I understand your predicament but you should have come clean to Mr Oliver".

"I know, I know but It not as easy as it seems, he said cleaning his tears".

"it alright, okay just stand up sir",

"thank you once again miss", as he walked away to his working area.

I have to prove my self and show them that I can pull this off, she said and then heads towards the elevator, Lydia stood by the corner all along with an angry as jealous look.
