Remembering 5: A Perfect Creation

"No mother. I don't want any of the people you send to my apartment to help cook and clean because I know they are spies. You plant them in my house so that they can tell you what I'm up to. I'm eighteen Ma. You promised to leave me be on my own when I join university. Are you going against your word?"

This is the one sided coversation Leo heard as he was taking a breather. He was from the market to do green grocery shopping when he came along a bench near the university gates and he decided to take a rest. It was his long life dream to join this particular University and he loved this spot as he could look inside the University and imagine himself in there.

He was day dreaming about what his life would have been like if he had joined a university like was his dream. He remembered that The University of Keya was one of his top choices and he wanted to study Business Management and Administration just like his dad and help in his father's business as he started his.

That's when his train of thought was cut short by a young man who sat next to him on the bench talking on the phone. At first, Leo wasn't interested in the conversation as it's wrong to eavesdrop. He thus continued to look at the students going in and out of the University gates as he imagined himself in their shoes.

The person next to him was still talking and it interested Leo because this person seemed to be arguing with whoever was on the other side of the phone. He looked at the owner of that voice and he was in awe of what he saw.

Even though he was seated, Leo could tell that this man was tall. Much taller than he was. He looked at those long legs and those biceps. This was a perfect creation. His jaw was well set and he had broad shoulders that carried strong arms. It looked like this man exercised regularly and Leo was a sucker for abs and he could clearly see them through the tight short sleeved T-shirt the man was wearing. He had no vest underneath his shirt and Leo was jealous. He had tried working out but heavens just refused to give him abs and all those muscles he could see on those who exercised. The faded blue jeans and the white shirt the man was wearing looked like they were made specially made for him. This was a perfect creation.

Leo found himself staring. He knew he we tall since he was a 5'9 but he could see that this man was taller, much taller than him. He knew how to appreciate a good thing when he saw one and he knew this man was handsome. He smiled as he thought whether this was what people meant when they said that God created some people after resting and when He had all the time with no hurry at all. Yes, this was a product of such a creation. He wasn't bad himself, he knew he was handsome but he also knew that if he was to compete with this one, he wouldn't hold a candle. Leo fournd himself envying whoever woman this man would fall in love with. This was what women mostly dreamed of.

'Did I just complement a man? Leo thought and he could feel his face burning up from the embarrassment but he was but he was thankful that he was subtle in his ogling another man and he wasn't found out. He would have melted from shame if anyone knew what was going through his mind. Whoever admires a fellow man? He forced himself to stop staring and he decided to be on his way but he caught the man's next sentence. He didn't really mean to but we all know that the ears don't have doors, right?

"I promise ma. I won't starve myself. I will find a person of my choosing who will be coming in during the weekend to cook and clean for me. I will make sure that there is enough food in the fridge to last me a week. I just don't want a stay in maid. You know that my house is small and doesn't have a place for two people!"

Silence.

"I can use a microwave ma. I promise. I just don't want people I can't trust in my house. You know I love my quiet."

Silence...

Okay. I will tell you immediately I get someone and yes I will be careful. I always have and you can trust me."

Silence.

"Bye mom. Love you too."

Silence...

Hang up...

Sigh...

Here was an opportunity.
