68 TOO LATE

I felt as if I was intruding in a private moment. My father and mother both stared at each other, neither one of them moving. Just staring at each other, my mother staring in regret while my father stared with a million questions shining in his gaze and he doesn't know which one to ask first.

"Irene..." My father croaked out.

My mother squeezed her eyes shut and a single tear rolled down her cheeks, "I'm sorry."

"You are alive!" My father said his voice filled with wonder.

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, I'm so..." My mother tried to apologize but it got cut off when my father crossed the room in three long strides and pulled my mother by the waist and slammed his lips on hers.

Okay, this was definitely a private moment! I muse as I quickly walked out of the room and shut the room after them.
