wedding shivers

It was still surreal. As much as it was frightening. The long awaited day was here but not with the excitement it is always rumored to bring.

Sounds of the Wedding bells could be heard all the way from Greecia's Palace hall to Gwendolyn's room. It's melodious sound filled the heart of mind of both Nobles and Commoners of the ceremony that was to hold the same day.

Gwen sat in front of a mirror. Being attended to by a train of maids. Clothes, jewelries, makeup and all. The day had to go perfectly, they were there to make sure if it. Not that Gwendolyn actually cared.

The day couldn't be anymore imperfect to her than it already was. She woke up— or more correctly got up that morning with dark eye circles as she had tossed and turned the entire night. She couldn't believe it was actually happening. She was set to become someone's wife in a matter of hours. She didn't know how to feel or rather couldn't explain what she was feeling at the moment.

Excited? Definitely not. Reckless? She really thought she was being reckless. What was she thinking accepting this marriage? He was a monster, would she last a day under his lunacy? Probably not. But being reckless was just what she had to be in order to stay alive and scar those that she loved too.

She would regret this. She knows. But what use was it turning back now? Not when she was like this...dolled up and beautiful, looking like a bride through and through. Gwendolyn looked at the figure in the mirror and sighed.

How ironic. All brides wished to look this beautiful on their wedding day but here she was wishing to be less beautiful than she already was.

"Princess here. You're ready to go" one of the maids announced. They had just finished making Gwen's hair. They rolled it into an elegant bun, exposing the tear drop earrings on her pale small ears.

"Do you like it princess?"

Gwendolyn chuckled and shook her head helplessly "it's more than I expected"

The maids showed a respectful smile "it's Princess Guinevere's wedding day. Sure you must look your best so that the Rylica kingdom would think twice about intimidating you"

Think twice? That was something the almighty Prince Arvcan would probably never do. He had dare to threaten her before, her looking beautiful didn't pose a hindrance to him doing it again.

Bam!

The door was pushed open and an excited maid walked in. "They're here! The People from Rylica are here!"

They're here?

Gwen's heart skipped a beat. Subconsciously her cheeks flames up. She felt nervous having to become someone's wife. How was she to look at him?. Husband, she couldn't imagine calling someone that especially not that man.

How would he look like dressed in fine robes and standing before the Vicar? His deep blue eyes looking on the aisle awaiting her presence? His handsome face... Oh what the heck was she thinking now?!. Was this perhaps what was said to be wedding shivers?.

...

"Prince Arvcan, we have arrived" the Footman announced as he opened the carriage door. Slowly Arvcan alighted. He spared the palace a curious look then a look of disdain settled in his eyes.

It was no different. The Palace was truly as pretentious as it's people. Why build it modest and simple, if not to hide all traces of the illegal wealth gathered from books and crannies.

"I hope they don't keep me here for too long. This place gives me allergies" Arvcan complained. He just got here barely five seconds again and he wants out already.

Alex slithered next to him and whisper softly "You would have to make an exception for today. The King and Queen of Greecia requested you stayed for the dinner ball with your bride and your father agreed on your behalf. You might just be spending your marriage first night in this Kingdom"

Arvcan clenched his fist so tight his knuckles turned white. He appeared to screaming at his father in his mind. How much he really wanted to turn back now. Could he do that? Ditch the wedding and go back home?

With quickened footsteps, he made his way into the Palace. Following the direction of the man leading him, he was led to a waiting room. The event was yet to begin. This wedding was the first of it's kind, every Noble within Greecia, Rylica and the surrounding kingdoms were scheduled to be present so the wedding was not starting till the guest were ready.

"Aren't you anxious to see what your bride would look like?" Alex asked.

"it would be in my best interest if she looked like an oaf at least then, someone might be kind enough to call off the wedding for me" though he said this, his mind still brought up an image of Gwendolyn all dressed up as a bride.

It wasn't hard picturing her face. After seeing her the last time, he could not forget her face. She had that kind of look that lives in ones mind rent free.

Emerald green doe eyes, oval face, thin heart shaped lips, eyelashes like the wings of a butterfly and skin like honey. She might not be a peerless beauty but she was a rare kind of beauty. Imagining her dolled up and dressed as a bride almost made Arvcan's heart flutter but the butterflies disappeared the same way they came. Killed by his Sheer will.

He was entering a battlefield, there was no way he would allow himself be distracted by allowing his mind to entertain thoughts of her beauty.

"She might be wishing the exact same thing" Darian chirped in. Ever since he stumbled on Gwen crying in that room. He just couldn't get that image out of his head and everytime he recalls he can't help but feel sorry for her. He has been continuously haunted by the thought that Gwendolyn was being misunderstood by them and that she might not also want the marriage as much as Arvcan do. Till he understands what is going on, he would try his best never to witness such scene again and that means he has to keep his friend and Prince from devouring that young lady.

He had his work cut out for him, he surely knows.
