40 Chapter 38

Refusing to explain the kiss, I cry endlessly into Wade's arms. It feels nice to be comforted by someone like this. No wonder Liana came to me.

As my brain reloads and my senses return, I understand the reason why I am upset. It sounds petty and childish but I know the reason Pan kissed me was to distract me and stop me arguing with him. It was foul play.

On the other hand, my heart couldn't appreciate the kiss because I only now realise that there is something else I feel for Panda King.

Something more than a business relationship, something deeper than friendship and something which is threatening to overcome my being.

How did I end up having this feeling for none other than Panda King?!

Tina Gold is in love with Panda King.

The ridiculousness of this whole situation would have made me laugh on a normal day but after the kiss, I have realised that Pan doesn't respect me at all.

After everything we have been through over the past months, I thought we had grown closer but was it only me who had thought a silly thing like that?

Why did I break down and cry in front of him? I never cry in front of anyone.

"Tin!"

I shrink into Wade as I hear his voice calling for me. He must be angry that I ignored him. Burying my face into Wade's top, I refuse to answer him.

"What are you doing?" I hear his angry voice.

"We're not doing anything. Tin is sleeping, don't wake him up." Wade lies smoothly.

"He doesn't have time to sleep. Wake him up." Pan says coldly.

"What's up your ass? Why are you being so moody?" Wade asks.

"Mind your own business." Pan says harshly and I feel a pull on my arm. "I know you're not asleep Tin. Stop pretending. We need to go to the scene."

Slowly, I lift my head up. There is no use continuing this act. Our contract isn't over yet so I still have to follow his orders.

"Scene?" Wade asks in confusion.

"Crime scene. Come on Tin." Pan lifts me up and throws me over his shoulder for the second time.

***

Avoiding eye contact, I keep my eyes on the road as I drive down to the night club. Will we really be able to get the full footage? That Theodore Emmet didn't look like he would give up easily with his accusations.

For some reason, I am anxious at what we will find. If Pan recognises that it was me who Theodore Emmet had an argument with that night, I don't know how I would get out of it.

Glancing at him, I remember the way he kissed me and my face turns scarlet. It was different from all our past accidental kisses. This was one where he did it on purpose. He intended to kiss me which angers me, knowing he thought he could win by silencing me with his mouth.

He has never seen me as anything other than a slave, a tool which he can bend to his uses. Thinking about it, I angrily stamp harder on the gas pedal and the car speeds up.

Catching Pan quickly grab onto the handle on top, I feel a little satisfied. From now on, I won't let Pan twirl me around his little finger.

When we enter the nightclub, I pull my hoodie as far over my face as I can. I can't let anyone recognise me. As far as I can see, they have different staff today but I need to be cautious.

"We're here to collect some evidence." Pan says to the manager.

The manager stares at him before gesturing to the camera. "There were a few people who came by a few days ago for some footage. Would you happen to be from the same group?"

Pan shakes his head, "No. We are here for a different incident."

I follow them inside the surveillance room where the computer screens for all the CCTV cameras are located. As per Pan's instructions, the security guard searches through the cameras for the footage of that night.

It takes a few hours until we finally find the right date and time. Pan tells the security guard to rewind it a little and my eyes widen when it stops on the point when Theodore Emmet and his men were arguing with me.

Although there is no sound, anyone can see that there is conflict and we are less than friends. I self consciously pull my hood further down my face.

"We'll take a recording from this time." Pan says to the guard who nods and jots it down.

As we leave with our evidence, I pull on my hood.

Panda King, why is it always you who protects me?
