Death-defying manoeuvre

When he told her his plan, Ji-ho was shocked.

"I promise you I'll get us out of this alive, Ava."

Like hell, she thought. Despite her misgivings, Ji-ho turned back to look out the screen. If Ilya's plan was successful then it would save many lives on the other warships.

"Your orders, sir," she said in a steady voice. The commander had given her an out from this situation and she'd rejected it. Her window of time to leave was gone so she decided to buckle up and trust the commander to make this happen.

Ji-ho fiddled for a few seconds as she configured the console to the settings that she was used to. While she did that, Ilya called for Archer and had him man the weapons station.

"Not trying to pressure the two of you but we only get one chance," Ilya told them.

Ji-ho was calm. On the surface. Inside, her nerves were rattling like a rickety window during a typhoon. She could see from the corner of her eyes that Ilya was making some calculations.
