TEAM KILLS

"Wahhh!" Kohta yelled as he ran around the area with two undead hounds chasing behind him.

His magazine had gone empty and while he was trying to reload, unlike the undead who gave him some leeway to do the reloading, the hounds attacked him and he had to run for his life.

As he ran, he pulled out a new magazine and loaded it into the gun.

He turned around and shot at one of the hounds.

Bang!

Kohta shot down the second one just before it pounced on him. "Shiro, next time I'm coming out with you, remind me to bring a bigger gun. I've never seen these bastards so I ended up bringing a handgun this time."

"You still want to come with me after all you're witnessing?" Shiro asked as he put another hound out of its misery.

Kohta nodded to show his agreement. "Well, it's certainly true that it's a narrow road between life and death but the thrill is getting addictive. I'm on the verge of death but I don't want to die, that's where my guns come in. I can't keep getting enough of that feeling."

"I assume Kohta's drunk." Saeko spoke first.

"I agree." Hina replied.

Saeko raised an eyebrow at Hina's words. "But you were smiling while you were killing them all. Or did I see that wrongly?"

Hina kept her smile on. "Probably saw it all wrong. It pains me to kill them but if one more attacked Shiro, it could lead to bad news and I don't want bad news about Shiro."

Hina continued. "At least, I've removed over fifteen threats to Shiro."

Saeko puffed up, her chest rising more than normal. "Well, I'm sure my kill count is over twenty too."

Shiro ignored both of them and walked back to the other male in the group, Kohta, raising a fist toward him. "Now, I have a brother who's willing to go hunting with me no matter the time right?"

"Sure you do." Kohta extended his fist and they fist-bumped with a creepy smile on their faces.

Saeko interrupted their brotherly minute. "Can you two just behave like normal people?"

Shiro retorted with bravery. "We're perfectly normal. You're the abnormal ones. Who goes around, counting their kills." The faces of Hina and Saeko went red with blush.

"Yes, Yes, tell her!" Kohta shouted like it was the hour of revolution.

"You two need to be taught lessons." Saeko pulled out the scabbard of her sword and beat Shiro and Kohta with the scabbard.

"Stop!" Shiro yelled.

"What's the matter?" Even Saeko was stunned by Shiro's shout.

With a serious look, Shiro informed his team members. "There's more coming. More than all we've killed so far. Are you guys up for it this time too? Or should we make a run for the estate? It's not too late."

Saeko answered almost immediately. "I don't think it's a great idea to run back. We risk bringing them with us because those dogs or whatever can run after us and that alone will bring the rest of the horde toward us. Moreover, we still have almost one hour left before Saya returns to the gate. What do we tell the guard we'll inevitably meet if we return now?"

Kohta raised his hand. "I agree with her."

"So do I." Hina's agreement surprised everyone. She had always just gone along with Shiro's decision.

Shiro murmured. "Well, I could've gone ahead, made the guard unconscious, and then opened the gate but as you said, we still risk being followed by the hounds."

"So, we'll stay and see for the end of this horde before returning. They're attacking from the front, left and right. Kohta, stay at the back since that's the safest place for a non-melee fighter." Shiro informed them of the angles the attack would come.

"I want to believe you have at least three more magazines. We'll need you to take care of our blind spots. Is that okay?"

Kohta moved behind the others. "That's fine by me."

Shiro turned to Saeko. "You're free to take care of the left flank. I have no doubt in your strength but please, be careful."

Then he turned to his first partner. "Uhm, Hina, you seem to be angry and I can tell that anger is towards me. Please, release your anger on the right flank. Thank you very much."

Hina's face brightened when Shiro's last words entered her ear. "Leave it to me."

"Then, I'll take care of the front. Do not let anyone get past you. But if one gets past you, don't bother too much, Kohta will take care of it." Shiro informed the team.

Grrrr.

The first undead got close enough and growled at the team of four.

Slash!

Before it could do a thing, its head dropped to the ground.

"Try not to waste time on one and just straight up end it." Shiro warned as he swung his sword to get the blood off it.

Grrr. Grrrr.

The horde arrived and the massacre began.

"It's time to go back and open the gate, isn't it?" Takashi asked.

"Yeah, I was on my way there right now." Saya responded.

"Let's go together then." Takashi walked with her as they both headed for the gate Shiro and the others had left through.

They arrived at the gate and found no one there.

"He left again." Saya said with a snort.

Clack!

Saya opened the gate and just in time, they saw the team of four running toward the gate, covered in blood from head to toe.

When they entered, they all fell to the floor, panting like beaten dogs.

Kohta was the first to speak. "We should never do that again. Never again!"

"We're definitely not doing it." Saeko replied.

"Not just one more time?" Shiro asked them.

Kohta yelled at him. "Damn you!"

The four of them burst into laughter.

"You'll explain all this to us later. For now, get up and leave this moment. The guard could arrive at any moment." Saya warned them.

All four of them replied in unison. "Sure." They stood up and walked away.

"Let's go." Saya said after Takashi locked the gate.

"Sure." He replied and they walked away and not long after, the guard returned without finding anything strange.
