Highschool Attention

Highschool is crazy. It's even more crazy when you add drama, the cliques, the bad boys, the cheerleaders, the wannabes and the nerds. While everyone else is busy looking for ways to attract attention and climb the popularity ladder, Hailey Winston is just there to laugh at them as they fail. Little does she know that her disinterest in popularity will also attract attention of other people.

Homeroom is like free period, if you've been there you know what I mean. I've been sitting here watching two girls formulate a plan on how to lure a guy into falling for them.

Pshhh as if that will work!

Don't get me wrong, girls can actually set traps and guys fall into them but this plan I just heard is pure amateur.

I could have helped them but where's the fun in this? I can't wait to see them fail!

I'm not evil, I promise. But every girl here is consumed with love for popularity and popular boys.

Anyway homeroom got done as fast as it came and I go straight to my Geography class. I hate Geography not because it has map work and graph work, but I really think the subject is irrelevant.

I mean come on, is there wheat farming in Canadian Prairies anymore? Are there forests in British Columbia anymore? Does Tennessee Valley Authority mean anything to me right now? What about New York, will I ever even look at Bronx or Brooklyn, the so called poor islands of New York?

Therefore Geography means nothing to me, I attend to keep my attendance record clean and to pass exams. I also attend this because it's the only subject I share with my third best friend, Tamika Lincoln. Speaking of the devil,

"Hails, what the hell have you been doing the previous month?" She asks  like everyone else has been doing.

"Nice to see you again Mika, where's my hug?" I say with a friendly smile.

I know they won't let it go, but I can only hope. Nobody must know what I've been doing home last month.

Tamika doesn't object, she pulls me into a bone-crushing hug and whispers in my ear, "missed this."

I fake gasp and look at her weirdly.

"You didn't miss me? You missed my hugs instead? Remind me to send my hugs to school whenever I miss."

Both of us laugh but Tamika cuts it short.

"So what have you been up to? Did the dance competition go well? Also why doesn't Hayden know you were in a competition?"

"Slow down Mika, one question at a time. Hayden is a dork, he never knows what I'm up to. But the competition went really well, I didn't win though." I say with a fake frown.

"Don't worry Hails, you'll win next time. So any cute boys in Canada?"

I slap her really hard on the shoulder and scowl at her.

"Mika, you know the rules. How can you ask me something like that?"

"Oh Hails, you're no fun."

"Did you forget the rules? We can't date until the end of senior year! Don't tell me you forgot!"

Mika doesn't say anything, and for a moment I get suspicious. Did something happen to Mika in my absence as well? However before I ask her, the whole class turns silent.

This either means the teacher has arrived or the Offlimits boys have entered. Since I'm not a fan of Geography,I pray the second option is the answer.

And damn, it is.

Three of the five Offlimits boys enter the class following each other while girls suddenly start attempting to look pretty.

I don't hate or care about the Offlimits boys, they are cool, handsome, hot, funny, smart but they don't date. I like them in a way that they make my day, me seeing them rejecting many girls means laughing my ass off.

Again, I'm not a devil. If their name is Offlimits boys, why would anyone approach them? These girls need help.

The leading one is Cole Rivers, tall, muscular, forest-green eyed and handsome. He's a twin and rumor has it that he is into older women. Again, not my business.

The next is Elvis Cyan, slender, sky-blue eyed, handsome and colorful. He dyes his hair like three days weekly. Whether he's a make-up artist or he's not comfortable with one hair color, none of my business.

The last one in the line is Decker Swift, the leader of the group, the most handsome, chocolate brown eyed, most muscular and jet-black hair. Whether he works out in illegal fights or whether nobody knows where he gets money from, it's not my business.

I'm just describing what I see, okay?

Back to the story, the two girls I was sitting with in homeroom make their way to class just after the Offlimits. I may have heard them talking about making Cole talk to them so I wait. I wait for that moment when I get rejected.

Nothing happens though, they sit and don't do anything. Ofcourse I don't settle for less, I decide I'll stalk them until I see the humiliation.

And that's what I do.

When lunch break comes, I follow the two girls after telling my best friends that I would be picking up my lunch from my locker.

I still remember their shocked faces because I never bring a homemade lunch!

I follow the girls until they enter the music room. When they enter, the door remains slightly open and  I slowly tiptoe into the room and hide behind the grand piano.

Lame attempt, I know.

What happens later is totally not what I expected, it's just beyond my understanding. One of the girls changes into a very short tight red dress and applies dark red lipstick. She looks like a little temptress while her friend is encouraging her that everything will be fine.

While still contemplating on whether to record the scene or not, Cole Rivers enters the room.

"Cole!" The heavy make up girl exclaims as she walks towards him.

Cole looks as uninterested as ever and I feel bad for the girl. She should have seen it coming!

"Look Kayla or Kira or whoever you are, I don't swing your direction. Girls who throw themselves at me aren't my type." Cole says before the girl gets ahead of herself.

The girl looks angrily at him and before she can do anything else, like slap him or curse him, the door opens again revealing the rest of the gang.

Oh the party just began, my heart sings!!!
