Not so magical after all

A bustling platform greeted him as he opened his eyes - he had unconsciously closed them when he walked into the wall.

The Hogwarts express train was stationed by the side of platform 8 3/4. It looked similar to the original train but obvious improvements have been made since the time of the famous Harry Potter. The whole system was now run by electromagnetism, replacing the inefficient steam engine and allowing the train to levitate above the tracks.

'It seems like they have managed to somehow enhance the tracks to increase the efficiency of the electromagnetic waves, even the energy source seems to be purer' Wu Mao thought to himself and he quickly started to run a scan using his glasses. He was slightly impressed. Despite the wizarding community's outward resistance to technology, they weren't as close-minded as he thought they were.

"Oh, you applied for the exchange as well?" a chirpy and familiar voice disturbed Wu Mao's train of thought. His attention shifted to a petite girl who was approaching him. She had pure blue eyes and a baby face framed by her shoulder length raven hair. Despite her innocent bearing, Wu Mao felt as if he had received a high voltage shock.

"You are a witch?" Shocked, his brain didn't process her question and he asked the first question that popped up in his mind. The girl in front of him was ranked second in his senior year at SparkTech and specialised in making weapons. She loved 'testing' her non life-threatening products on other students. Wu Mao experienced the most embarrassing moment in his life because of her.

"Obviously, or not how could I enter here" Julia snapped as she rolled her eyes, "Now can you please get rid of that stupid face, you are an embarrassment". The cool and suave Wu Mao couldn't help but turn red from indignation. Even though he wasn't as smart as the other party, he was still ranked within the top 20.

"You..." he wanted to come up with a smart rebuttal but his 160 IQ seemed to have abandoned him at the moment.

"Mao Mao (1), you are finally here!!!" Just when he thought that his day could not get any worse, a shrill voiced announced his most hated nickname.

(1) It sounds like "cat cat" in chinese and repeating a given name is a form of endearment

Any contructive feedback (and power stones) helps!
