Teasing The Crown Prince

After the discussion Zhang Zhehan took liberties to ask about irrelevant matters. "Second brother, what about that Zhao girl?" He hadn't seen her since she had been conferred a title.

Zhang Zhengyang's brows creased as he looked at his ninth brother.

Zhang Zhehan grinned at him. He was only asking. "Second Brother, the rumors aren't true are they?" He said as he wiggled his brows teasingly.

Zhang Zhengyang completely ignored him, making him pout unhappily. "Second Brother, you can't keep being like this if not Sister in-law wouldn't be impressed."

"Humph." Zhang Zhengyang scoffed, and Zhang Zhehan shivered, knowing he'd better leave as fast as possible.

"Then… Second Brother, I'll take my leave…" He said as he quickly slipped away.

Zhang Zhehan left and Xiao Chen came in.

"Ninth Prince" He greeted, but the prince was in such a hurry that he didn't care to respond.

Xiao Chen shrugged and walked up to his master.

"Has everything been arranged?" the Crown Prince asked when he saw him.

"Yes, Master. Young Fifth Miss Lu really prepared well this time."

"She's fighting me after all."

Xiao Chen nodded. Her opponent this time wasn't ordinary, of course she'd be more cautious. He had witnessed a few cases where Young Fifth Miss Lu had plotted against government officials, he shivered when he thought about it. The fact that she could do all that without getting into trouble herself alone was frightening.

She might not actually have an official title, but she was already so strong. If one day she earned a title of any sort he was afraid they'd be doomed.

"The Fifth Miss of the Lu family is very bold."

Lu Residence.

Lu Man sat at the table as she served her husband to eat. On most days, the men in the house were busy, and didn't have time to join dinner, so every extended family were allowed to eat separately. Lu Man was quiet and her expression was solemn. But unlike the spoilt young miss everyone thought her to be, she was actually much agreeable, that is with those close to her, and had a good relationship with her husband.

"Man Man, what is it now? You already sent out the invitations, the little girl is sure to come. Being in a bad mood all the time isn't good for your health."

Hearing this Lu Man turned to her husband and glared at him. Feng Ting, Lu Man's husband held back a smile as he stared at her.

"What do you know? I always thought Chu Yin and I were alike, as long as we fight for the person we love we would have a happy ending. Who would have thought this would happen? If I don't make that man pay, then I wouldn't be the Fifth Miss of the Lu Family." Lu Man said as she stared into the distance. Lu Man personality was actually simple. She valued close relation the most. Be it her friends or her family, they always came first. She had been raised like that. The world was full of evil, only those close to her would protect and love her and she should in turn do the same to others.

She had grown with love and care all her life, and was never once bullied, how could she be at ease when she sees her friend in such a situation? Even if she doesn't kill that Noble Princess, she was going to teach the Crown Prince a lesson he would never forget.

But the question is, the shouldn't have been anything between Chu Yin and the Crown Prince, how come that things ended up like this and how did the clever and sensible Chu Yin fall so deeply in love with the Crown Prince? What actually happened between them that Lu Man couldn't forgive him?

"I'm only wondering how you're so sure what you're about to do would hurt the Crown Prince."

Lu Man scoffed, "Why wouldn't it? Didn't you hear? The Crown Prince himself had made arrangements for the Noble Princess manor, even the Minister of Rites couldn't do anything about it, the man had it well decorated, so much so that the little girl was moved to tears. Tell me, the Crown Prince hasn't cared about many people in the past, why does he suddenly spoil this nobody from the mountains?"

Feng Ting nodded when he heard it, but then he was worried that his wife would bring trouble to the Lu Family if she offended the Crown Prince, so he couldn't help but warn her, "If the girl is so important to the Crown Prince, then isn't it better to handle this matter in another way?"

Lu Man gave him a look.

Feng Ting knew once she set her mind to do something she would carry it out to the finishing.

"It's not my fault, who asked him to be so heartless." The day of the Emperor's birthday she hadn't been there due to other matters, who would have known when she returned to the capital, the first thing she would hear was that her best friend had left for the North to become a nun?

She knew what Chu Yin meant by her actions, she was so angry she nearly lost her mind!

The day of the banquet arrived and Zhao Xing's fever having subsided, much to her dismay, was made to dress appropriately for the occasion. Though she did feel more relaxed now than before. It was like that moment a person knows doom would come to them no matter what, and gives up trying to save themselves.

"Mistress doesn't have to worry, Miss Tang would be coming, she'll be sure to look after Mistress." Nuo Nuo comforted with a reassuring smile.

"Yeah besides, you're the Crown Prince's person, even if she wanted to cause trouble she wouldn't dare to do anything much." Lan'er added.

Zhao Xing felt like a little child that was afraid to visit the dentist while being coaxed by their mother. In short she was a little embarrassed.

"Who's afraid? I'm going even if they don't want me to come, whatever she wants to do let her do it, am I, Zhao Xing, easily bullied?"

The maids giggled at her attempt to act brave, and played along with her.

"True, Mistress is so formidable, she's not to be trifled with!"

Zhao Xing's confidence was boosted and she suddenly felt brave enough to even conquer nations.
