1 Kit

Hi, I'm Kit and I want to tell you about my high school experience.

I attend Beckford High. How would you feel if one of your closest friends hated you but stayed for your money?

It all started in my first year of high school. My parents owned one of the largest tech companies and they were never really home and when they were they never had time for me. I rarely had friends in middle school because everyone thought I was some snobby kid. But I wasn't.

My parents found out about this and they tried to fix it but made it worse.

I started high school, with the same goal of just focusing on my studies and not making any friends but to my surprise, this girl named Hannah approached me, and to not get into it, we became friends. We were the most popular girls in school. Even though I hated the spotlight, somehow I was just at the center of attention and I just didn't care anymore. I was just glad I had friends for the first time in my life.

However, all of this shattered, when one day, I was walking home from school and remembered that one of my friends, Joy, had forgotten to take her book from me. I walked to her house because it was close to mine. To my surprise, my parents were there standing on the street with Hannah's parents. I started walking towards them but stopped when I saw my parents give Hannah's mom a briefcase. I wondered what was in this suitcase. Hannah's mom opened it and though it was only for a second, I saw that the suitcase was filled with money.

I didn't want to assume what I just saw but then Hannah came out and took the briefcase and started smiling. I got a little closer to hear the conversation. Luckily no one saw me. When I got closer I heard my mom thanking Hannah for being my friend and Hannah said it was no problem.

I was ready to overlook this because I didn't want to lose my one good friend. Shortly after, my parents left Hannah asked her mom how long she had to be friends with me. They started walking inside before I got the chance to hear the rest of the conversation.

I walked back home with Hannah's book in my hand. looking down and not paying attention to anything around me. Was what I saw really true.? Was she really just friends with me because my parents were rich?

I threw the book on the floor and ran. I was so focused on the betrayal that I didn't see the truck in front of me.
