78 Chapter 78: Grandpa Jeo’s Identity

Village without a name, north of Scotland

July 15th, 999, 09:02 AM

It was going to be Erik and his friends' last year at Hogwarts. They had learned how to apparate in the last school year and that had allowed Erik and Selena to travel through the British Isles during their summer break. Erik, with Selena, had gone back to the village that he had grown up in. His main objective there was to visit grandpa Jeo and introduce him to Selena. After greeting some old acquaintances in the village, the duo walked to the rocky beach and to the end of it, where the stone cliffs were located. They walked up the sinuous stone path and, together, arrived at the cave entrance. Immediately, a frown appeared on Erik's face. The cave was empty. He could feel it with his senses. Cautiously, Erik entered the cave with Selena behind him. They walked until they arrived at the living area of the cave. They looked around it, and Erik saw that it was really empty. But the beehives that grandpa Jeo took so much care of were there. Erik approached the beehives and waved his hand over them while closing his eyes.

"The beehives are magically preserved."

Erik said out loud, so Selena could hear him. After their relationship had gotten more serious, Erik had started to teach her his method of training his magic control. Selena had taken the training as a sponge takes to water. Her wand magic quickly improved and she started to train in small feats of wandless magic too.

"Erik, I found something."

Selena announced from the other side of the cave. Erik turned to look at her and found her staring at the table while her wand was out and pointing at something. He walked to where she was and looked at what she was looking at. It was a closed envelope. It was on top of a small bound letter book and had his name, Erik, written on it.

"It's warded against unwanted people."

Selena said to Erik, who then extended his hand unafraid and picked the letter up. He quickly opened the envelope and started to read the letter inside it. It was from grandpa Jeo. In it, he said that he had to go. That he was dying slowly for some time already and that there was nothing that could be done to avoid it. He thanked Erik for befriending him, that it had made his last years really pleasant ones. He then explained what the journal contained. That it was a collection of knowledge that he didn't want to see lost. Finally, he finished by asking Erik to take care of his bees and that if he, one day, met with one of his sons or daughters, to tell them that he loved them very much and that he was proud of them, proud of being their father. In his last very last bit of the letter, he wrote something that shook Erik's very being.

'Take good care of my Annihilation Maker.'

Erik read that line, and re-read it again and again. Before he could take his bearings back in place, he finished reading the last line of the letter that contained grandpa Jeo's signature.

'Jehovah-Raah'

"Holy effer!"

And everything went black. Erik, for the first time in this life, fainted.

Hogwarts Castle, Somewhere in the Scottish Highlands

July 15th, 999, 06:32 PM

Some hours later, back at Hogwarts, Erik was sitting alone on the top of the Astronomy Tower. He had given the beehives to the house-elves of the castle. He was sure that the little creatures would take good care of them and in trade, they would provide the school with a good supply of honey. Erik had in his hands the journal that he had gotten from grandpa Jeo's cave.

'...Or would it be better to call him God?'

The thought passed by his head but it was almost immediately put down.

'Nah… He liked being called grandpa Jeo, and so it is how I will call him.'

Erik thought again. He still couldn't believe the true identity of the old hermit. But that gave him a sneak peek of the true timeframe that he was now.

When he first was born in this Universe, he was sad and thought that he had been scammed. He, a man coming from a very technologically advanced civilization, was stuck in the medieval age. But he had signed the stuff and it was his decision not to choose the timeframe in which he would appear. Then he saw how his parents treated him. He felt how loved he was by his new parents and decided to live this new life of his the best he could.

But now he had an idea of where he was in the supernatural chain of events, and he didn't like it even a bit. He was somewhere between the end of the Great Biblical War and the Devil's Civil War. Meaning that he would not live long enough to punch Issei in the face since the devil pieces would not be invented until the end of the war. But he really didn't want to depend on that. Aside from less than a dozen devils, the ones alive right now are just jerks and he would not like to have a jerk as his boss.

Erik was woken up from his internal mumblings by a hot body hugging and leaning on him. He looked at it and saw that it was his future wife. Selena was looking at him with that adorable pair of eyes. Shen then just snuggled at him, resting her head on his chest, trying to comfort him. Erik smiled at that, and suddenly, nothing else mattered to him. He would just live his life as he had decided before. And so, an invisible weight that was pressing on his shoulders without him knowing disappeared. Erik smiled and hugged back Selena's hot body. Noticing the change of mood in her fiance, Selena smiled on Erik's chest and climbed on his lap, snuggling better on his chest. Soon, her sweet smile changed to a naughty one. She started to move her hips and grind her bum on Erik's lap. Quickly, she heard Erik let out a groan and his tool started to get stiff.

*Groan*

"You minx."

Erik said to Selena and with one hand, he took her chin and turned her head to face him. When he saw the look in her eyes and the mischievous smile on her face, he couldn't resist anymore and started a make-out session with her.

An hour later, Selena was widely smiling on Erik's lap. They have not had sex, but the things that Erik did to her using his finger had left her with high expectations for their wedding night.

Erik, after having a heavy petting session with Selena, decided to open and start to read the journal left by grandpa Jeo.

Hogwarts Castle, Somewhere in the Scottish Highlands

After finishing reading the journal, Erik was thoughtful. The journal contained the instructions of how to truly access the power of one's sacred gear together with the insights that he had while making them. it contained God's vision of how the magic in the world worked. How the numerous systems, in the end, were just different interpretations of the same energy. How this new insight of mana had given him the kind of power that made him almost unrivaled in the supernatural world.

And that was just the beginning of the journal. From the middle to almost the end, it contained a kind of diary. Grandpa Jeo had written about what happened that caused him to lose his divinity. In his fight against the Tri-Hexa, he didn't have enough energy to destroy it and had chosen to seal it away. But his energies were almost all spent at that point and he had to use his divinity to seal it away, which made him lose almost all of his divine powers. He had tried to enter in contact with his sons and daughters in heaven, but couldn't. His own measures that blocked people from the outside from directly contacting the angels and influencing them to fall were keeping him out of reach. In the end, he had relented to live the life of a mortal, and truly speaking, he liked it. He had no preoccupations beyond what he would eat that day. He had found a cave to the north of Britain, near a village of Nordic origin, and had taken up a hobby of beekeeping. But it was lonely. He had his bees, but he was still lonely. He missed his bubbly and gentle daughter. He missed his overprotective son. He missed his family. It was then that, one day that he was walking, he met a boy on the rocky beach. The said boy lived in a village nearby and he instantly had sensed that the boy was different from others around him. And he was not talking about the Nordic blood running in his veins. No, the boy's body was different. It was attuned to magic and the world in a way that no one should have been in this age. And to add to the pile, the boy had one of his gears inside him. Annihilation Maker to be exact. But it was, thankfully, still dormant. And that was a good thing. He still remembered what had happened with the first user of that gear. To a child to awaken the power to give life to his nightmares was not a nice memory that he had, even more, when the event that resulted in the awakening was a traumatic one. In the end, after some months of unknowing terrorizing his village, the kid ended being killed by his parents out of fear. The sacred gears made by him were not designed to be forcefully awakened. That was just a self-defense mechanism added by him to it to help protect its user.

The boy ended up approaching him and started to call him 'grandpa' Jeo. He liked it. It was then that he started to teach the boy how to control his magic in a better way. He hoped that the boy, who was named Erik, would, one day, naturally awaken his sacred gear using the right way to do it. His journal ended with a written development of Erik's control over his magic and his hope of the boy being able to evolve himself into a high-human.

Erik was very curious about that. Evolution was a process that took thousands of years to occur, but, apparently, humans could evolve themselves in high-humans. Unfortunately, there were only blank pages in the journal after that.

And that brought us to today. Erik was inside the library, searching for the term 'high-human' but he had found nothing. He was in deep concentration, reading what he could about all the ancient races that once lived in this world when he was brought back to reality by a hand being put on his shoulder.

Erik turned to look who was the owner of the hand just to look in the eyes of a furious-looking Selena. He smiled at her. Even furious she was beautiful.

"Hey, honey. Are you ready for our date?"

Erik asked Selena, who got even more furious when she heard him.

"Date? Do you mean the one that was supposed to have happened an hour ago?"

Selena said and smiled sweetly at Erik, whose face morphed to one of horror. Erik quickly waved his hand and cast the time charm, just to see that he was, indeed, more than one hour late.

"Oops..."

Erik said, his face changing to a sorry one.

"Sorry, honey. I got so absorbed in my research that I didn't see the time passing."

Erik said, trying to appease his future wife. Selena let out a sigh.

*sigh*

"Not you too, Erik. Mother already locks herself for weeks doing her research, and I don't want that to happen with you too."

Selena said to Erik. Her mother, Rowena Ravenclaw, had lately taken to locking herself up inside her research room and stayed there for weeks. She hoped that Erik was not taking the same path as her mother.

"Don't worry, honey. I will not do that. If I do, you can send the house-elves after me."

Erik replied to Selena while smiling. Selena nodded at that idea.

"That's an idea. Just imagine old Stew bringing you to me while holding you by your ear."

Selena said to Erik with a look of someone that was imagining that possibility turning real. She then let out a giggle, that made Erik let out a chuckle too. Both stood there in silence, basking at each other's presence.

"So, what are you researching with so much fervor that made you forget a date with your hot fiance?"

Selena asked Erik, who smiled sheepishly at the verbal poke. He stood there thinking if he should tell Selena about the true identity of grandpa Jeo, or not. But some seconds later, he decided to do it.

"Well, you know that the gods do exist right?"

Erik started and asked Selena, who nodded her head.

"So, apparently, grandpa Jeo was a god that was dying. And in his journal, he mentioned that he was so powerful because of his way of controlling his mana. the same way that he had taught me, and the same way that I am teaching you."

Erik said to Selena, who was looking at him with a shocked face. She wanted to say something, but Erik didn't let her.

"But wait, there is more. On the last page of his journal, he mentioned that he had hopes that I could evolve myself into a high-human if I could have complete control of my mana. And that was what I was searching for. But I found no mentions at all about what a high-human could be. Do you have any idea about it, Selena?"
