Hiding Behind A Masquerade

One day I had hit my head on the ground and remembered my past life in another world. In that world where glass buildings seemingly touched the sky and peculiar machines that helped us travel around the world. The world of science. Too bad I had remembered too late since it’s already my execution! Ah, oh well looks like I’ll have to try harder in the next life. God; if you’re hearing this please awaken my memories earlier! This is on the WPC #109 so I would appreciate if you voted for me thank you.

I open my eyes as I gazed at the vast space in front of me. Black and white and a myriad of dizzying colours flashed before me.

I blinked several times to help my vision adjust to the sight before me.

Incomprehensible words rang in my ears, a sense of familiarity washing over me. A rippling wave of emotions fluctuated violently as I recalled everything.

'Ah! Isn't this my past life?' Various information flooded my head as a stinging sensation surged through me, an unbearable pain that was numbed by my anger suddenly burst forth.

Blood drenched my clothes as I stared at my impaled wound right through the solar plexus. I face towards my executioner and his lover.

I smile somehow realising what was to happen next. I stare into the girl's eyes and spoke shakily.

"From this moment on you shall all be cursed forever and suffer intense misery." My words resounded in the judgement hall shocking the two lovers.

"A group of fools and their followers as well as one betrayed woman. An endless cycle of misfortune shall befall you!" The girl stared at me as if I was crazy which I had at this point.

But the man gritted his teeth and silenced me forever by slicing my head off cleanly. As my head flew I formed one final smile.

The saintess, Prince, cousin, aunt and fiancé. They all betrayed me. My father was assassinated, my two brothers died at war.

Mother grieving over them left her ill. Taken in by my uncle and aunt I lived a misfortunate life as the sole heiress of my family.

They took everything away from me and my cousin stole my fiancé by tricking him and framing me for everything.

The saintess who threw me under the bus framing me for theft and accused me as the one bullying her out of jealousy.

The princess who sided with her and the charmed prince who blindly agreed with everything she said.

I hate them all! My anger ignited as I opened my eyes only to see an empty space before me.

'Could this be death?' Was what was going through my mind. Blurred memories flooded my mind as I stared blankly into the dark expanse.

I was once a young woman whom was born in a technologically and scientifically advanced world called Earth.

I was just a normal human that worked two part time jobs and was looking for a good high paying one.

I worked to get money for college and had eventually gotten consistent good grades and was able to get a degree and had a job relating to my majors.

I worked as a voice actress in games and shows as minor characters but my biggest role yet was on a TV show.

I starred as the main female lead about a man with a secret in high school. As vague as that is it's not a bad premise or show as a whole just really bad and inconsistent plot lines.

From then on I rose to fame and starred in many of the highest grossing films. Albeit I still had minor roles.

Then voice acted for some anime and cartoons but never did anything musical well rarely anything musical for obvious reasons.

As I rose to stardom, my life began to break. I worked nearly with little to no sleep to film shoots late into the night.

Had stalkers around my neighbourhood. A couple cases of theft, threats and a fair share of hacked social media.

But that was very minor until I was shot point blank range by a self proclaimed fan. I never knew what happened after but I went completely blank.

And came back as Sera Finé Eonas. In another world where no trace of magic existed but is a legendary power only the summoned heroes and saintesses and sorcerers could use.

Recalling all this the darkness faded away as a dim light that gradually grew in brightness appeared.

The brilliant rays blinded me and even closed my eyes as a reflex.

Opening my eyes reluctantly I then glanced around slowly at my surroundings.

"You're awake! How are you feeling my lady?"

I shouted aloud in my mind 'I know these people!' Anna, Bell, Rena! Elise, Celia and Nanny Lily!

But they were all fired after my aunt fired them for their 'incompetence.' Looking back I was distressed for how they were easily let go.

I wished I could have done something. But at this point I realised their words. 'Awake? My lady? Wait this can't be!'

I faced to the left and stared at the woman who gave birth to me in this world. Facing the sun I watched her gorgeous golden locks glow down as she neared my face.

Leaning in for a kiss on the forehead. "What happened?" I was surprised at how they were all acting like this.

I was confused by this event but then again I was a person who had been given more chances at life.

And now was no different. "You fell down the stairs and it hit your head. The family doctor said that you had a minor concussion."

I then recalled that during this time my father was out with my brothers to train. Now that I think about it training my body would be a great way for me to get stronger.

Not only would I be able to bond with my brothers and father and increase my chances in saving them as well as saving myself from their future selves who sided with the two faced saintess.

Not only that with the skills learnt from my father I would be able to fight the Heroes and win the battle for the Artifact with them.

And finally I can formally duel against the Saintess having the King as the referee. The duel I am referring to was the Bellator Law.

If a person had a problem or a grievance to address against someone thy can ask for a duel instead of a trial of fairness and honour.

The one who comes out on top can command one thing from the other and they must tell the absolute truth.

Back then I was defeated since she had magic and I didn't. But now it's different since I have the knowledge on how to gain magic.

Or should I say the process to remove my limiter? In any case since I was tired now I had no choice but to sleep.

Closing my eyes reluctantly I drowsily said. "Good night."

This is a story of mine alternatively called Behind The Masquerade. But this works as well.
