Chapter 69

Amaia pov.

“...and be a good girl.”

I rolled my eyes at him and scoffed at Creamy. He’s becoming annoying, he’s always been annoying since the very first moment we met. What can I do? I’m stuck with him.

“Wait!” I yelled. He stopped, his hand was already on the door handle.

“What was that used on me, the plan B, it made me weak.”

“We’re still working on it. Someone made it happen, his life is in it.”

“Someone gave his life?”

He nodded.

“For me?” I asked again.

“Someone that wants you to live a very long happy life sparking as you are.”

And he left, leaving me more curious about who the person was. It wasn’t Zyair, who could it be?

I didn’t have time to think about it when my parents came in. Just like he said, they had been waiting outside the door. Once I was through with them. I had to see Zyair, that was my plan in the first place if I wasn’t distracted by something else.

“Amaia, my dear.” The woman that was my mom said to me and held my hands, she sat beside me on the bed.

“Thank you for being alive. You’ve grown up so well.”

“Someone took care of me, a great man. Made me to been able to protect myself and protect those around me. I’ll get to introduce you to him once he’s come.”

“We would be glad to meet the person that had taken care of you,” Dad said and scooted closer to us.

“I’m glad you’ve forgiven us.”

Creamy had told me, their mother was having difficulties talking with others, she had withdrawn so badly and the only face she knew was her mate. But now, she was talking to me, half hugging me. Was I also the reason they had suffered this much?

“Why didn’t you look for me?”

“We couldn’t leave the pack. Jason was on our tail. We’re sorry.”

I sighed.

“It’s all in the past now, isn’t it? I don’t want you to suffer anymore.”

“Seeing you alone has brought us unspeakable joy, we never thought a day like this would come and you’ve even become our Luna.” He said taking my other hand.

“I know, I’ve always known you would be great Amaia.”

“But I’m just a cursed luna.”

“I’ve faith. You’ll be free from the curse.”

“After everyone dies.”

“Look at me.”

I stare at his eyes. The green eyes that I’ve gotten were from him.

“You’ve got a heart of gold, a heart that a lot of people don’t have. Your mate did something in you. Gave you the heart to love and that’s what you’ve been doing. And since then you find it hard to kill. That heart you’ve got.”

“How did you know.”

“A father must know what’s going on with his daughter. I’d to find out everything I could about you when I found out you were alive. I’ve got a confession to make.”

My eyes were still on him, urging him to go on.

“I came to Novak forest and I met the man who took care of you. You were right when you said we were scared. I was scared of them finding out. So I flee and never went back. I’m sorry, I couldn’t be like that man, though not his daughter loved you unconditionally. I promise to make up for everything. But you’ve to stay with us.”

I want to, I want to live with them, and experience what’s like to have a family. I don’t want to be a monster. I didn’t want to live with the curse anymore.

“I’m sorry sweetie.” I pulled her into a hug, and stretch a hand to father so he would join the hug, he stood up and joined the hug.

We pulled away from each other after a long time. And I simply stare at them. I have a family now. My family, something I’ve to protect now.

“You’ve to be strong till the last day. Be strong for us and come back to us.”

I nodded at my father.

“Nothing is gonna happen.” I half smiled at mother.

“As far as you’re holding up strong, the last day nothing would happen.”

The last day, the day it all ends, and the day that decides if I would be cured or not. The possibility of being cured was lame. And I’d given up hope but now my hope was rekindled and was ready to hang on to the slightest hope for a change.

“Do you know why, Why I was all cursed?”

Father shook his head at me.

“I’ve been searching for that answer too, why must it be my daughter? Couldn’t be someone else. We’ve been finding out why. Maybe we might get answers soon.”

“We should hope on that.”

“Have you seen your mate? Our alpha?”

I shook my head.

“Heard he’s affected by the curse..”

My mouth went slightly opened but no words formed. I was already aware it was my fault. That he was sick because of me.

“Zyair was a hell of trouble then, we were scared of him, everyone in the pack was then and he was just small. Who knew he would one day be the leader of us? I’m sure he would be fine.”

“You haven’t seen him either?”

“Nobody has seen him ever since that night..”

I jumped off the bed.

“Which room is he, do you know?”

“There’s a guard in the front. Just about three doors from here.”

I ran out of the room. I didn’t even get a chance to tell them anything. Zyair wasn’t seen for days. Was that why Creamy was everywhere?

What happened to him?

Why was he locked up in a room?

A guard was outside the door as father had said. And he was standing firm, I already knew he won’t let me in. I wasn’t even here for any formalities.

“You can’t go in.”

“Never asked for your opinion.” I projected my dagger into his arm, pinning them to the wall. He growled at me.

“I’m even been merciful to you. Why are you angry.”

The door was locked, I just had to break them. I moved back a bit and ran towards it and kicked the handle. The door burst open.

“No..”

“Keep quiet.”

I warned and ambled into the room. I walked around for an until I saw the bed, I ran over.

He was there on the bed, his eyes closed, and his lips were dried and cracked.

Why was he here?

Why was he lying here like this?

I went over to the bed and grabbed his hand from under the cover.

“Why are you here like this?”

“What happened to you? Zyair, talk to me please.”

My hand was cold. Tears were streaming down my face when there was no reply from him.

“Won’t you talk to me, we talked earlier remember? Answer me, why are you lying like this? Open your eyes and look at me Zyair. You little mate is here.” I gripped his hand tightly as I cried.

“Zyair. Talk to me, about what happened. Wake up please!” I cried harder.

“Why?”

“You’re here..” I turned to see Creamy approach. I stood up from my knees and went to him.

“What happened to him?”

“It was gonna happen.”

“What do you mean?”

“He was sick. You knew. And he was bleeding too. He’d less than five days to live.”

I shook my head. It’s not true.

“It’s not up to five days yet. So he isn’t dead yet.”

“A day left. We don’t know if he would wake up. He’s half living and half dead. The physician called it a name I’d forgotten what it was. Stop crying. What if he’s watching you cry, he would feel hurt.”

“Let him feel hurt and come back to me!” I fell back to my knees.

“It’s all my fault. It’s all my fault!”

“It was meant to happen. It wasn’t your fault.” That would be what he would’ve said to you.”

“I don’t want him to die because of me, love shouldn’t be this painful.”

“It was his choice.”

I shook my head. My face was wet already, and I wasn’t even having the thought of wiping them.

“What’s gonna happen to him? We’ve to save him. We’ve to save Zyair. Please I beg you. Let’s save him.” I held his pants.

He nods at me.

“We’ve too.”

“What should I do?”

“Let’s break the curse.”

“Would he been saved if we do?”

“Yes. Then he would be able to receive treatment. Since you both bonded, he received the curse. And gave you his strength in return.”

I stood up again. Staring at Creamy with my teary eyes.

“Let’s break the curse.”

“On one condition.”

“What condition?”

“You’ve to be alive, no matter what happened. Even if we break the curse or not be alive. Stay alive and live.”

No. I cried.

He pulled me into a hug, I hugged him crying my heart out. And I knew he cried too behind me.

“You’ll be fine Ama. You ain’t alone this time. You’ve got us.”
