He left me. And it's all my fault.

An unfamiliar man wearing our uniform welcomed me when I came in. He is sitting quietly at the corner, seemingly lost in his own world. I looked around and there's no one around. I suddenly feel awkward. Should I greet him? Or wait for the others to introduce him? Who is he anyway?

"Gray, You're finally here." Our Chief Tech, Glenn calls me. He taps me on the shoulder and went beside me.

"As you can see, we have a new hire today in replacement of Hana who resigned last month. His name is Lucas, and he is one of the topnotcher at the recent Radtech Board exams. Lucas, This is Gray, one of your seniors, He's been here for two years and counting."

A topnotcher, huh? No wonder he got hired immediately.

He stood up, his eyes empty as he stare at me. This is the first time I've seen someone who looks dead like that. It's like he's alive... But then he's not. The bags under his eyes screams of lack of sleep and his skin complexion is so bad, I just want to drag him outside and give him sunlight. But he looks good, what a waste of handsome face.

"Nice to meet you." He greeted in an equally dead voice. I just nodded in awkwardness.

"W-where are the others, anyway? Is it toxic already? It's only 8 AM." I said to divert my attention and I feel like that's what he needed too. I saw him go back to his position earlier and stared at nothing again.

"Flag ceremony. I told you, the hospital had a flag ceremony every Monday. You've been here for so long and yet, I can count on my fingers the time you attended it." Glenn answered me and smacked my head with an empty folder. "And you're late."

"No, I made it exactly on time." I grinned. This is actually the first time I hit the clock at exactly 8 AM. I feel accomplished as if it's a big deal.

Our talk got interrupted when a walk-in customer enters with a doctor's prescription asking for an X-ray.

I could feel a dark aura behind me as me and the patient walk through the exposure room. Of course Lucas will follow us.

Well, gotta ignore that and start working now.
