Chapter 30

-Days after the meeting with Pathfinder-

I had Ordis fly Serenity around and I was lying on my bed as I watched the city lights through the window.

Aster: This really is amazing! The view is great and I can enjoy it while I'm in bed!

Ordis: I am happy for you Operator but something came up.

The seriousness in his voice was evident.

Aster: What is it Ordis?

I stood up.

Ordis: I received another transmission in Enochian. This time though, there's more that some random coordinates.

"Strange..."

Aster: Ok, shoot!

Ordis: It seems that there are some fragments that can help power you up in different ways.

Aster: Really?

"This sounds too good to be true."

Aster: What's the catch?

Ordis: The "catch" is that they are not in this universe.

...

Aster: Pardon?

I didn't hear that right.

Ordis: To retrieve them, we have to go to other universes.

"That's possible?"

Aster: And how the heck are we supposed to do that?!

I said with exasperation and a hint of excitement in my voice.

Ordis: The message describes a gateway on the moon that can be used for such purposes.

Aster: That's mighty convenient! Receiving coordinates on the moon right after I got a spaceship. Does it mention the name of the sender?

Ordis: No, but perhaps it's Lotus!

He sounded a bit hopeful.

Aster: I doubt it.

"This is definitely something Janus and his 'buddies' would do."

Aster: I guess we'll go on a quest then! But not now. I still have to participate in the school event.

Ordis: I fail to see the importance of such event Operator!

Aster: It's not just the event! We don't know how long I'll be gone and I want to spend more time with Toru. Plus I have to find an excuse so I won't be kicked out of the UA.

Thinking about Toru made me a bit sad. I like seeing her everyday, talking with her, being with her.

A sigh escapes my lips as I fall on my bed.

Aster: The good thing is that thanks to the Beyond warframe, I gained lots of experience fighting people these past few days. Though most of them had useless quirks.

Ordis: Indeed, they were on the level of normal human beings.

I sighed again.

Aster: Enough sightseeing, fly us home, it's time to sleep.

BOOM!

An explosion echoed from a building below Serenity.

Aster: Great...Ordis! Scan and report!

I begrudgingly stood from my bed and transformed to Beyond.

A second later, my trusty but annoying partner announced the results of the scan.

Ordis: Operator, an explosion occurred outside of a bank. The suspect is a human male. Analysis of the feed of a nearby surveillance camera indicates that he's equipped with exploding kunai. No superpower is shown as of yet.

Aster: Doesn't sound that hard. Let's finish early or I'll miss my beauty sleep.

I said jokingly and entered the deployment capsule.

Dropping down, I didn't see any other hero yet.

"I guess it will take a while to mobilize at this hour."

The vault of the bank was opened in an explosive way. The perp was coming out of it with a bag on his shoulder. He was wearing dark bodysuit and had lots of belts strapped with kunai.

"This guy is definitely in the wrong universe!"

As he was running to the exit, I jumped out of the shadows and sparta-kicked him.

He fell with a grunt and from the bag, stacks of cash was spilled.

Aster: I think you're in the wrong place pal. The hidden villages are a few days of travel towards East!

Ordis: 6 out of 10

"Aster: Come on! He even has the metal bandanna thing on his forehead."

Thief: How dare you get in my way!

He announced like a good villain and grabbed a few kunai from his belts.

Thief: Die!

The kunai flew with surprising speed but I was able to get behind cover in time to avoid the explosions.

"Maybe I'll try taunting him so he'll keep throwing kunai 'till he runs out."

Thinking of a plan, I rushed out of cover.

Kunai were thrown here and there as I kept running around.

Aster: Missed me!

Thief: Stand still you little prick!

He went to grab another one but only air filled his hands.

Thief: Shit!

"There's my chance!"

I charged towards him hoping to finish this but as I got closer, a grin was plastered across his face.

He threw a stack of money at me as he smiled. Feeling a strange chill, I abandoned my charge and leaped backwards as the stack of money exploded. I managed to avoid the brunt of the explosion but I was still launched to the wall behind me.

Aster: Ugh! I'm going to feel this in the morning.

I gritted my teeth and stood up.

"His quirk probably allows him to make things he touched explode."

I was about to speak as the dust from the explosion settled, but I didn't see him anywhere.

Aster: Don't tell me he ran.

"Aster: Ordis, did the bad guy run away?

Ordis: Operator, I am following with Serenity!

Aster: Great! I'm on my way.

I ran outside and just as I was about to rocketjump, a lightning bolt landed in front of my.

Aster: What now?!

I said with irritation.

??: Stop! You're under arrest!

I turned to the source of the voice and I saw a tall man covered from head to toe with an electric-blue armour with golden details. Arcs of electricity were occasionally discharged from him.

"Not now..."

I raise my hands to show that I'm not hostile.

Aster: Ok mr. Blue Knight or whatever, this is a misunderstanding! I'm a hero and the real criminal is running away!

Hoping for the best, I tried to persuade him so that the thief wouldn't get far.

??: My name is Sparkman! And there's no way I would believe such blatant lies. I mean look at you, even your suit looks like a villain's.

Aster: What the-? I can't believe we're debating about this!

I said in exasperation.

Aster: I don't have time for this!

With that, I quickly jumped to a building and took off towards Serenity.

Sparkman was surprised and he tried to hit me with lightning but to no avail.

Sparkman: Come back here!

Jumping from rooftop to rooftop, I noticed that Sparkman wasn't behind me.

"At least I don't have to deal with him."

Aster: Ordis, report!

Ordis: He stopped Operator! I think he will change clothes to blend with the populace.

Aster: Is he stupid? How many people are walking around at this hour for him to try to blend in?

Ordis: Uhh...Not many Operator. You're right, it is kind of suspicious if someone walks while carrying such a bag on his shoulder near a robbed bank.

Arriving at the place Serenity is, I looked down from the rooftop. I spotted the guy walking like nothing happened.

Ordis: Operator, might I suggest something? In order to avoid more property damage, KiLL hIM QUIckLy! I mean knock him out with one hit.

Aster: Ordis.

I paused.

Aster: Sometimes you scare me.

I said and jumped.

Using the momentum from my fall to strike, the unsuspecting thief didn't even have time to react before he got knocked out.

Aster: You know Ordis, I think I understand why game characters often use moves like dropping on enemies.

I said while standing next to the unconscious thief.

Aster: Time to return ho-

A shout interrupted me.

Sparkman: How dare you attack an innocent civilian! You've gone too far!

He pulled a pistol that had a cable connected to his armour.

"This guy might have lightning powers, but he's not that bright..."

I sighed.

Aster: Dude! This guy is the thief!

I crouched down and opened the bag.

Aster: Do you see this? Go check the surveillance cameras if you don't believe me!

I also took out the bad guy's suit but didn't say anything else.

Aster: You can deal with this, I'm leaving.

I walljumped to a roof and entered the invisible Serenity after I made sure nobody was watching me.

Aster: This guy really annoyed me.

Ordis: You're just mad at him because he said that the Beyond warframe looks like a villain's suit.

Aster: Shut up Ordis!
