Chapter 1 «Envoy»

"Uh? Where am I?"

A young voice echoed within a pure white space.

The boy looked at his hands with two big eyes. He can't understand in the least how he got to this place.

The last thing he remembers is saving a little girl from a falling billboard just when he had just left a restaurant.

His name is Ken Law, a boy like many others. His life cannot be considered so full of particular emotions.

However, from the first moment he saw Japanese animation, he was fascinated by it, for this reason, after a while he started writing his own story ---- or at least he tried.

But even if it didn't go well, he didn't get discouraged, he learned everything there was to be known, he reviewed everything there was to check, plus he started to maintain a healthy body by going to the gym. After all, a healthy body is the basis of everything.

But it all ended when today.

As soon as he saved the child, Ken closed his eyes. He did not want to see what was coming upon him. For this reason, he waited, waited and waited but, the pain that should have come never made itself felt.

For this reason, he remained silent for a few minutes in that white space.

Ken seems to have immediately understood what happened to him.

"So, this should be ... the paradise?" he asked himself in an uncertain tone of voice.

This is not surprising, even if it is a truly enchanting place it is not as he would have imagined it, more than anything else, not so ... 'empty'.

After a few seconds, however, it seems that something has occurred to him, his two eyes widened as well as his pupils, he immediately put his hands on his head as he fell on his knees.

"Nooo! Today the new episode was out ..."

"Huh? What would they be?"

Opening his eyes slightly, Ken looked up at the sky.

In that place, Ken saw what was in the sky.

Flowers ...

Countless flowers gracefully fluttered in the sky.

Observing, Ken looked at these flowers. Each flower was made up of 12 petals, no ... 11 petals because in each flower there was an empty space. This space, Ken has associated it with the petal that was missing for some mysterious reason.

Furthermore, each flower has a purplish colour that tends to white, like a small nuance that gave a magical touch to that space, moreover, each of these petals was wrapped in a sphere of an almost crystalline transparent membrane.

While Ken was intent on observing those flowers, an ethereal female voice without emotion appeared in his ears, that voice 'woke up' Ken from his amazement.

"I welcome you, envoy!"

"Who?"

Ken immediately exclaimed in a loud tone of voice in the surroundings upon hearing that voice.

This is because it scared him, suddenly in this white space a voice appeared in his ears, he would lie if he were to say that he was not scared in the least.

Because of this, he subconsciously started looking for the source of that voice.

"I'm here!" the voice appeared again in the boy's ears, this time, Ken was not scared as before but calmly turned his gaze in the direction from which the voice came.

Not far away, he saw a small ball of light the size of an egg that fluttered slowly in front of his eyes.

Ken was quite speechless. He never expected that female voice to belong to this sort of ... sphere?

"Uh ... what are you?" looking at that little 'sphere' Ken asked in an uncertain but at the same time stunned tone of voice.

"I am the manager of this dimension. My name is [Sora]"

Hearing those words, Ken was speechless, more than anything else he can't understand this terminology used.

The dimension manager? What is it? Ken, although confused by all these events that happened to him, after taking a deep breath, he asked the most important questions that came to his mind hoping for some answers.

"... What place is this? What happened to those flowers? Why am I here and why do you call me 'envoy'" Ken immediately asked question after question without taking a break in between.

After all those questions, silence fell into that space.

The luminous sphere shook slightly at all those questions of the boy, in the end, after a few seconds, the sphere finally answered.

"This place is the border between reality and fantasy and is where the worlds you know as anime, manga, tv series are born."

"In short, this is the place of origin and those flowers ..."

"They are all worlds, but as you can see, they are incomplete, each flower is missing a petal."

"And the reason you are in this place is that all the worlds have selected you to complete their mission."

What he has just heard has sent the boy's mind into turmoil, or rather, he has understood, but it is something really crazy at the same time astonishing.

Then, in an uncertain tone of voice, he asked, "Me?" pointing at himself with his finger.

It's something normal, a very normal person who has no special traits is suddenly instructed by a strange sphere to go to the animated worlds.

It's madness.

He never learned any martial art. He never had brilliant results in his life, and yet he was selected.

"Exactly!"

The sphere confirmed without going to specify why.

Ken seems to have wanted to say something, but eventually, he closed his mouth.

But under this tension, Ken was feeling at the same time a high excitement. After all, who is it that would turn down the opportunity to meet their favourite characters?

Eventually, after some explanations from the sphere, Ken understood what he has to do, in a nutshell, it's a bit like a salaried job.

"... and for that reason, your job is to go to these worlds as the [World Envoy] and retrieve the missing petal."
