Hero to Villain: Betrayal knows my name

I wanted to make the world a better place once. But they had other plans and with a sword to the stomach, it was done. I guess fate had a cruel joke in mind, a never ending void sounds expressionless. But I wouldn’t have it any other way now, vengeance for my unrighteousness death. Ray Zone, the World’s number 1, Worldwide, a powerful swordsman from Australia is brutally killed by his own teammates. The thing is they all thought it was over once his body was tossed but little did they know a demon would be born from their actions of greed and power. He was reborn as Ray Ryjin and what would transpire from his past to now would be quite the journey. Ray’s end could be his beginning- or something bigger? ‘I knew I was dead, at least in that life but no one had really come back to tell people what was far beyond death in the Split World. No one, until me.' However little did Ray realise things were going to twist in a way not even he thought was possible.

'I didn't even need to do anything' smirking to himself Ray saw that Macey had gone silent at their fathers abuse of power. 'Macey had always hated when those of power would use their abilities to oppress those weaker. Call it an act of justice, Macey was very much like Rose in regards to aiding and providing' it made Ray think of all the times Macey would actually stop Lance from attacking and putting down the younger duke royals.

"You are not allowed, nor have the right too as a king to assert dominance on allies of this kingdom Lance" Ray would remember their arguments at the table as a baby as their mother holding him simply shook her head but smiled at Macey's words.

"It's not my fault, the dukes sons were wanting proof of power and I served it to them. It's a matter about respect- if they fear me now they'll thank me later" Lance spoke nonchalantly back.

'again back then, why was it Lance at a tender age sounded like such an old prune. At least I had an excuse!' Sighing Ray took a sip of water from his goblet.

"Father" spoke Viola for the first time, even though she was the second to arrive home from her duties to a neighbour kingdom that she was to be wed in. Her words did not leave her mouth without careful attention and consideration of a situation. 'This is a surprise' thought Ray as he finished the last of his meal while everyone else had not even begun.

"The air of your hostility to your family is draining, you are preaching to the wrong people rather instead you confine our wishes to you and your business. Our mother and your spouse grows weary each day while you trade commodity to strangers beyond that of this kingdom." As if to prove her words Viola pulls out a scroll, 'wait that's!' Ray hadn't expected this, he thought he'd been the only one with that scroll!?

Placing it in front of her she continued,

"To the split world of interchange dimensional trading, it is with great meaning and understanding that we create a portal to unite our worlds with the crystals and raw materials you have been providing us through these last 15 years"

Ray breathed out harshly, 'this scroll is covered with illusion magic to make it seem like it's a shipment scroll. If she is to be the next queen of the neighbouring kingdom, no one would have questioned it' yet this scroll wasn't any scroll, it was a direct copy of an invoice to their father.

Shock hit their Mother as their Father looked at Viola with wide eyes at how she had managed to find such a document when he was so careful.

"Our greatest hero has fallen, with that said I hope you uphold your side of the truce. This truce being you provide us the materials to build the portal to better connect our world and yours in the greatest project of all time. Project 12."

As if Ray had been punch in the gut he stood up causing all members of the family to look his way. 'Project fucken 12!?' It was confirmed. Ray had been reborn on the other side of the world, the split world, the world that had collided with their own long ago. 'Project 12' his mind repeated over and over, thinking back to the conversation a government goon had with him a week before he was betrayed and killed.

"Ray Zone, we have been safe with you and your team providing outstanding protection and service to all states that have allied during this time. You're a beacon, a message, a call to arms, no one wouldn't know your name. Which is why we want to offer you something of interest that might help us with the split world and it's inhabitants." The man with black glasses, wearing a suit smoothly spoke as he took a sip of coffee, that Ray's secretary had brought in. Ray however sported a hot chocolate with two pumps of caramel and five mash mellows.

Ray had been listening but something wasn't adding up with the goon's words as he picked up his hot chocolate and took a sip. 'As always a delicious combination' Ray complimented his hot chocolate makers near downtown as he once again placed it on the table in front of them.

"You clearly have a motive to come to the world's number 1 and his team however, you haven't actually said how you know there are inhabitants or even the thing that would help "you" with the split world." Ray wasn't buying it and the goon knew it too. So without much restraint he put down pictures he'd taken out of the inside pocket to his suit.

"These are official government operations, what we aim to achieve is project 12. We want to unite the two worlds together with a portal strong enough to let an entire war fleet into." Gritting his teeth together Ray knew how selfish and greedy the government was. But this? This was a disgusting example of it, he looked at the operating pictures of what looked to be people but with tails and horns doing manual labour.

"Why a war fleet." Ray bitterly enquired as the man perked up thinking that he had hit a common zone of interest.

"To control. These inhabitants are like new races of indigenous, we need to govern them before they do. We have engaged with inter dimensional trading partnerships and have seen their ability's. Although they are underdeveloped in technology their magi and skills are far beyond you or anyone else. These inhabitants are those of myths, they have horns, tails, fin and gills. The uproar if we didn't overpower them now would be severe. The public would fear them and cause distribution on the streets-"

"Why not just make an alliance and maybe have a school and teach them. I fail to see how overpowering them would work in the long run if they are indeed more powerful than myself and the others of my team." Ray cut in clearly enraged and the man knew it, Ray's magi licked the air in a poisonous manner causing some fear in the official in black.

"All I'm hearing is divide and conquer just as our ancestors did and that didn't get them far." Ray spat out as he himself would still attend those small communities that still thought of those brothers, sisters and all that served the world those times ago. With the merge of the split world and the opening of field chains and monster dungeons like games, everyone seemed to forget those of true power who sacrificed in the name of country, the Anzac's. Anzac Day became a thing of the past and Ray every day that that day was present would put on his social page 'Less we Forget'.

Most His team ridiculed him for that as the comments on his page would make a laughing stock over social media. Saying "this guy still believes lol lol lol" "What the hell Ray? It ain't time to service the dead" or "LMAO what a weirdo".

Even the government had forgotten in their scuffle of power over people when normal humans could suddenly use abilities, skill and more.
