16 Ideals

Rachel Looked towards Alex and smiled, "Well, there is politics. They don't know Miss Hana's true powers, they only have speculations like us. But her sheer physical strength is comparable to the top S ranks and thus, for some, Miss Hana is the leader of S ranks. For the rest, She isn't. The government doesn't like her that much, Miss Hana also dislikes the Government. But something is keeper her from making her organization instead of working for them. But we just don't know what is. That's why people like us just accept her as the leader of the S-Ranks. She has the powers and intelligence then why not?"

Alex nodded, he remembered that when Hana spoke of the Government sending military personnel into the investigation, she looked very annoyed. 'I think I get the situation now.' Alex thought to himself.

*Ding*

The elevator stopped, Alex had arrived in Hana's apartment. Rachel looked towards Alex and said, "If you need something, please tell us. There is a phone in the living room. I am not allowed to enter the rooms of attendees so I cannot show you where things are but I guess It's not that difficult to navigate." The woman said as she showed the way towards the door.

Before Alex entered the apartment, he saw a small board beside it, 'Hana'.

'I guess she was really telling the truth. I didn't doubt her but people who don't use surnames are very rare.' Alex said as he opened the door.

Just before he could enter the apartment, Rachel spoke up. Her face a bit flushed, "If you need… Other help just call for me. I'll be here all night."

Alex's eyes opened wide, he was in a state of complete shock. 'She is really direct, isn't she?' He thought to himself as Rachel ran quickly to the elevator, spamming the button to go to the ground floor.

There was a period of the awkwardness of Alex watching the flustered girl repeatedly pressing the elevator button as she tried not to make eye contact.

Alex watched in disbelief as the girl went to the ground floor. He shook his head and sighed, "today's a weird day."

Alex entered the apartment and looked around, "I expected something like a 5-star hotel room but this… It goes beyond my expectations, It's more like a 7 Star hotel room!" The structure of the furniture and the overall look and feel of the interiors was just elegant.

Alex walked around, looking in every room. He was in awe, before this he had never seen such a place in real life. The closest he ever saw them was when he had to work as a hotel cleaner but even the rooms there weren't comparable to what Alex was seeing now.

Alex walked to the living room, there was a huge leather sofa in the middle and an even bigger tv in front of it. Alex jumped on the sofa and relaxed. He looked towards and ceiling and sighed, "What is happening, I really don't understand but I really don't feel sad that I'm here. I got something that allows me to be stronger and I can be twice the man I ever was in this world. I will try to return to my world but only after I become more powerful than the ones I saw in the empty void.

A look of concern filled Alex's face," Until now, the highest level enemy I saw was the controlled rhino but he was only level 10. The reapers I saw in the void were on another level. The weakest one was level 50 and the most powerful was 100. But after it cast something, it's levels increased so high that I couldn't even see them."

Alex brought up the UI of the system.

[Alex- Obscure Vigilante]

[Level- 8]

[health- 45]

[Mana- 35]

[Attribute points- 1 remaining]

Alex flicked to open the skill points and added the skill point to a Dexterity.

"I don't know what it does but having it at two bothers me. Let's just hope it will be helpful. For now, I will need to think about why I lost exp two times."

Alex closed his eyes and remembered what happened, he tried to put the dots together, "Both times, I hurt a reaper and left them on their own. One had a deep wound but the other wasn't as injured… But as soon as they were either killed or died by blood loss, I lost exp…"

Alex stood up, "If I think about it, I also gained exp when I saved that girl from getting crushed. I even got another ability when I did so. This system seems to be rewarding me and punishing me based on my actions. I leave the reapers in pain and let them die in pain and agony, I lose exp. I save someone from death, I gain exp and even an ability… It seems like this system needs me to do something a hero does to gain exp." Alex seemed to have realized what the system wanted from him.

Alex shook his head once again, something didn't add up. The system's ideology of heroic actions and Alex's ideology of heroic actions were different.

"The system punishes me for not killing… I've never been told that heroes kill, hell all that I've been told is the opposite. Heroes never kill. But such an amazing thing like this system wants me to kill those monsters… I guess this is the fine line of being a hero. What will a hero do, follow his code of not killing and let a vicious monster live just so it can go around and kill others or Kill that monster then and there? Ending it, no one but the monster is killed…"

Alex turned to the ground, fidgeting his fingers, "Killing… Killing… Killing… This is a harsh subject. Ending a life is something that no one just thinks of. I guess I need to have a stronger will and I should start to think of killing as well. I can't be that scared kid anymore. My so-called heroes were all fakes, why should I even believe their ideology. I will make my own. For justice, Killing will also be an option." Alex made a huge decision. He knew that he had to evolve as a person and he knew even more that he had to kill to save lives.

"For now, let's just look into my inventory as well as the 3rd ability that I got. I don't remember having three so that must have been a new one I got after taking down Rhino." Alex said as he opened up his abilities.

[1 new ability: Heal]

[A simple ability that heals a living organism. Uses: infinity. ]

[Ability Specialty: As long as the player has enough Mana, anything can be healed. A simple wound might take less mana. A serious injury takes a larger amount of Mana.]

Alex smiled when he saw the description. He looked towards his stats once more.

[Alex- Obscure Vigilante]

[Level- 8]

[health- 45]

[Mana- 40]

"Hmm, my mana increased by five when I increased dexterity… It seems like that wasn't a waste." Alex felt happy.

"At least with this power I can feel a bit more safe. But once I think about it, these abilities sure are expensive. My mana isn't much but they ask for a lot just to use once. If I use might, I don't think I can heal that much, maybe a few small injuries but nothing big. I need to think more about the abilities I use as well as the amount of Mana I have left."

Alex started to think more critically. He knew that he would have more battles in the future so his best chance in winning would be to understand his own power first and have trust in it.
