Just Is

Morne had his misgivings about the leafy mattresses used by the elf men, but it was quite comfortable. Not overwhelmingly so, but rather around the comfort that a decent inn's bed would provide.

Being composed entirely of leaves packed tightly together in a still-living plant – he had no idea how the elves had coaxed the tree to grow such things inside, where there was little sunlight for the plants to absorb – it had just enough give to let his massive form sink an inch or two into it.

This, when combined with the leaves themselves, which had a waxy texture, but were also soft and springy, formed an odd product that would let him drift off to sleep with ease… after he got used to the texture of his new mattress.

Doing so took some effort, but he soon sank into the welcoming embrace of sleep.
