7 Save Log 5: I, A Ranger, Shall Track Down This Gentleman

The crimson ray of light filled my room as the sun started to wake up. I couldn't sleep that well thinking about how to rescue Joro Purplehood from the hands of a general demon.

…..should I fall back?

" No need to worry.", said the voice in my head.

" Oh! It's you Razahan-sama. Finally, after a long time you showed up."

" Continue your plan to rescue. Ask the maids for details. Success of this mission is not guaranteed."

I got out of bed and sat there for a moment. Then I decided to follow the regular routine while I was in Grodmin's. I used to walk beside the river with Sylfia. Now, she is not with me anymore. Nor is the river.

Sylfia….

I sniffed and got down the stairs. I went toward the door, pulled the handle and saw Furorem standing right there waiting for me holding a tree pruning scissors…..

" Where are you going, Hanjiro-sama?", she said glaring mad at me. Her eyes were still fiery as before.

" Oh, Fu-furorem. Go-good morning."

" Good morning to you as well."

" Nice day for a jog isn't it?"

" Indeed. The morning's fresh air soothes anyone's mind.", she replied.

" Isn't that right…"

" Have a nice walk around the garden Hanjiro-sama. Hope you don't abandon us and run away.", she snapped the scissors.

" O-of course not. Haha. Why would I leave this place?", she nodded and went back to work. I was planning to run away but……. Now I'm scared.

I walked out of the mansion and started to jog around the flower bed. It wasn't that bad at all. Some maids were already up, trimming and watering the flowers.

Because of their care and hard work this mansion is beautiful like new. They say they will continue to do this, just to welcome their master one day.

" Oh Hanjiro-sama. Good morning. You are pretty early.", said Shinon who was watering the violet flowers.

" Shinon, good morning. You are working hard I see."

" Yes. I want to make sure that Joro-sama sees them all beautiful when he returns. If I don't take care of them they will die. That's what Aneca-onee san said to me. Well then. Have a nice day!"

" Yes, you too, Shinon.", I replied

She focused her mind to watering again. Even a girl like her is working. Just for her master. I feel….guilty for thinking about running away.

" Don't worry Shinon. I'll find your Joro-sama soon as I can"

" Thanks. I know you will. No one breaks a promise. If someone does that then that person is bad. That's what Joro-sama told me.", she said.

" Breaking promises is a bad thing. I'll keep mine as well."

She gave a smile and returned to her work. She is watering the white rose bed. I went toward the mansion. I've decided not to run away. Even if it costs my life. Wait, what was that Razahan-sama wanted to say to me when I was being resurrected?

The sun was up. And so are all the people in this room except Liz and Furara. Liz is still napping while standing while Furara is still sleepy sitting on the couch with Lina. Rubbing her eyes as she yawns.

Everyone gathered around in the sitting room in front of the lifeless fireplace.

" I hope you all know why I called you here.", I asked standing beside the fireplace.

" You just told us to come downstairs. How can we know why you called us Hanji?"

" It's not about the ban on mushroom collecting quests is it?", said Furara.

" No, it's not. We will talk about that later. But now, we will talk about the missing Joro Purplehood."

" Oh I see. You want to track him down. I guess that's what a ranger do.", said Lina

" I would like to ask each and every one of you about Joro."

" Joro-sama went out of the mansion 8 months to defeat the demon general which was around the town of Midlofhin.", said Milona.

" We have no other clues except he went outside of the town. However….", said Aneca

" There is someone who might know more.", said the glaring Furorem.

" What is it Furorem? Do you know something or what?", asked Lina.

" Not her. But I think Shinon knows something.", Bustina was holding Shinon on her shoulders under her generous bosom.

" Do you know anything Shinon?", I asked.

" Ye-yes. I was passing by Joro-sama's corridor. Then I heard he was talking about something with Mister Dermin."

"Do hear anything about where he went?", asked Furara.

" Yeah, yeah. We need to know that first."

…..this is starting to feel like a detective movie scene.

" Well, I heard him saying this, ' I'm going to the Albanian Forest. Get my sword and armor ready.' Then Mister Dermin asked, ' Of course master. But, can I know where of Albanian forest you are going?'. Then Joro-sama replied,' The compass is pointing to west. Which could only mean….' ' The abandoned dungeon?', said Dermin. After that, I left the place since Aneca-san was calling me.", Shinon tried her best to act and say like Joro and Dermin. I think I can understand how this Joro guy and Dermin was.

" An abandon dungeon?", asked Furara.

" We have came to this place one and half years earlier.", said Milona.

" But we never heard anything about this abandoned dungeon in the west.", continued Angrina.

" We only know some dungeons in south from here and in the east.", finished Rebede.

" That won't help. I guess we need to check the guild for info then. Both of you get ready. We will go out now."

Furara and Lina nodded in reply.

" May Razahan-sama bless you on your journey."

…..Razahan-sama?

" An abandoned dungeon on the west part of the Albanian forest it is?"

" Yes. Do you know anything about it?"

We are in the guild. Siyol isn't working so we had to go to Alice's counter.

" I never heard anything about that. It is. But, I'll look for that, it is."

" Thank you for that."

" Please hurry up. We are in an emergency situation right now!", said Lina.

" Who told you to say that?!", I put her long cat tail. She yelped.

" That hurts! What was that for you coward! Actually, that felt good."

" Just shut up already. You will ruin our plan."

" It is?"

" No not to worry about them. Please look for the info on the dungeon.", said Furara.

" Alright. I'm on it then.", she went inside. Furara then dragged us to an empty table.

" Furara, cast a mute magic on her before she talks too much."

" What the hell?! Why are ya always so mean to me Hanji?"

After a few minutes….

" Sadly, I didn't find anything about the dungeon you are talking about it is."

" Oh, I see."

" We got no lead then.", said Lina.

" But, I did find an abandoned mine which is in the west. No one goes there for a long time it is. Some adventurers suffered from serious injury after the ceiling of one of the mineshafts fell on them. They survived somehow it is."

" Hmm..maybe she said dungeon instead of mine?", said Furara.

" Alright. Thank you very much Alice."

" You're welcome it is. Please visit again.", we left the counter and went outside.

" So it's the abandoned mine then? I knew about that mine but I thought it's not that one.", asked Lina.

" We are still not sure about that but that's the only lead we have now and why didn't you tell us that sooner?"

" Don't worry. I've learned a new magic recently. It's a magic that can detect demons which is closer called ' Detect Demon Scent'."

" Alright. Good, we will use that to see if there is any demon inside or not. By the way, will you get am…"

" No I won't.", she replied before I could ask.

" Let's go then. Waut, I didn't ask how to go there."

" I know how to go there. We just need to tell the carriage man to take us to the abandoned mines. They know where it is.", said Lina.

" Alright, everything is settled. Let's go and check out the mine then. But first, let's buy some potions first. I'm not feeling safe with Furara's healing."

" Furara will go crazy then. This is for your own good Furara. Don't feel down.", said Lina

" Ye-yeah...I won't be that much of a help…."

Inventory filled with potion and mana drinks (just in case we have to rely on Furara.) We went to the mine and are now standing in front of the entrance.

" This is the mine huh?"

" Pretty scary right?"

" I'll check out the demon detection magic.", she raised her hand.

" O the wind, let us know if you smell the scent of the deadly demon, Detect Demon scent!", a red magic effect surrounded her and vanished.

".....did you do it?", I asked.

" No, I failed to cast it."

".....you gotta be kidding me."

" Do you need a mana drink?" said Lina.

" Y-yes. I'll try that again.", she took a mana drink from Lina and drinked it. Then she again raised her hand.

" Detect Demon scent."

No dramatic cast this time?

The same red magic effect surrounded her and it stayed for a while as the wind started to twirl around her. Slowly it faded away and so did the wind.

"...... Did it work this time?"

" Yes and yes.", she replied in a serious tone

" What ya mean Furara?"

" It worked and there is a demon inside the mine."

Now she said it. Looks like we finally did come to face the demon general. I took a deep breath to calm myself.

" Everyone, here we go then."

Furara nodded while Lina was still feeling unease.

" Let's do this for Shinon and other maids.", she finally spoke.

" Hai!"

We all took another deep breath and stepped inside the 'abandoned dungeon' while a wild thought slipped my mind.

Why didn't we asked the guild members to help us out?
