The sound of rhythmic beeping penetrated the darkness in Nyrissa's head. The noise was irritating, unrelenting, and disturbing the peace she had found. But with the incessant sound came a searing pain through her side and a tickling sensation in her nose. It felt like someone was gently blowing air cool air up both nostrils at the same time.

Nyrissa tried to reach up and knock away the source of the annoying cold air. But it felt like it took all of her strength to just lift her hand to grab the thing in her nose.

"Don't move, baby," A familiar voice broke through the beeps.

That sweet voice sounded like a siren's call, and Nyrissa felt her mind move toward it wanting to wrap that sweet, calm voice around herself like a warm, comforting blanket.
