1 We'll Be Fine

Pain! In my entire life I have never been in so much pains_Dara thought as she stared at the wooden coffin which was being dropped six ft into the ground by four hefty men.

She felt a tear trickling down her face slowly and she wiped it off her cheek with the kerchief which was already wet with her tears. She heard her elder brother,Duron, sniff whilst holding the big black umbrella that protected them from the drizzle in his hand and Dara turned to look at him.

At that moment Duron also stole a glance at his sister beside him and their eyes met. Staring at her, Duron felt his heartache. His sixteen year old sister was always pretty but right now she was a mess. Her eyes were red, swollen and almost covered because she had been crying for days after the demise of their mother. Her cheeks were red and puffy, her once cherry lips were now cracked and dry. Her eyes dejected and her hair unbound.

He had promised her and his mother a good life when he hit it big in the music industry. Now his mother was gone before he even had a chance to fulfill his promise....he felt he had let her down...and he swore to himself he won't do the same to Dara.

He put his left arm around her shoulder and pulled her closer to him whilst he held the umbrella in a tighter grip. Duron closed in and kissed her head with a whisper "We'll be fine.."

Dara wanted to say something but she felt a lump in her throat...so she just swallowed her words and rested her small head against his chest.

Soon, evening came and the few people who had come began to leave, until she, Duron and her best friends from Bryntlee Highschool were left standing by her mother's grave.

Anthony and Madison stood quietly with the siblings. Both around Dara's age. Dara looked at her best friends and then gave Duron a look as if asking him to excuse them. He seemed to understand as he walked away some good distance from them. Dara then turned slowly to face her friends.

"Anthony, Madison....thank you both for coming and for being there for me always",Dara began. Her throat felt sore and her normally sweet voice was now hoarse.

They had always proved to be her true friends and they always stuck with her through her bad times since Middle school. It all began when Dara was being laughed at by other kids at school during Bring Your Father To School Day. Her mother, Carmilla, had always told her that her father was dead and with her multiple jobs she was too busy to take Dara to school that day. It was Anthony's father who shunned the other kids while Anthony and Madison comforted her. They were just five then. From then on, the trio were inseparable.

Anthony waved his hand in front of her, "of course we are best friends".

"Yeah", Madison added.

"which is why...", Dara said and paused...she wondered how to break it to them and she just looked at her feet as she spoke again, "...which is why it'll be hard for me to leave Bryntlee".
