Chapter Seven: Present: Therapist

"So, you and Owen never got close for a few months then he turns up as a business investor and owner?" Alex asked as he stood up to stretch.

"Yeah, I wasn't even surprised about us meeting up but how I had missed who he was, is something else… I must admit though, at that time I didn't care. I had an amazing job, friends and just a perfect lifestyle. A relationship wasn't what I really desired."

"What about your family?" Olivia asked.

"My mom was a grade 1 teacher, as for my dad well… he was in the army. When he was alive and made it home, he was quiet and drank himself to sleep. When he was sober, he would try to make his presence be felt but what or who it really affected was my mom. She would wait on him and fight with him because she at least wanted to be loved and cherished. Dad would make her laugh and tease her here and there until she at least laughs. She loved smiling and laughing. She always made sacrifices for me. From the day I was born to before I went to prison."

"What happened when you entered prison?" Olivia asked.

"She would look at me like I failed her… there was so much heartache and anger but her pride wouldn't let her speak out. So, she visited for 3 months then never returned. As for my dad, he just gave me one quote and never saw me again. 'Wars always have a reason but sometimes the reasons are unjustified; whether it be for the right reasons or not.'"

"Do you believe that he had faith that when you committed that action that you were justified?" Alex asked.

"He was a quiet man but he never kept quiet if he knew the facts. When he was confused, he did what he could do to understand in silence, but the same way that listens and silent have the same letters; his reasons were like that."
