Chapter Nine: Present: Therapist

"Why didn't you try and stop the confrontation?" Olivia asked.

"Because I was never good with it, I faced an incident when I was younger… I tried to stop a fight between Justin and one of my boyfriend's when he pressured me for sex. My ex, Marcus, hit me by mistake and I was hospitalized for 3 weeks, he used to take boxing classes to 'lessen' his temper. Justin regretted not making sure I was at a safe distance before initiating the fight."

"So, Justin has always been a part of your life?" she asked

"Definitely."

"Can you remember how you met?" Alex queried.

"It was after dance practice in grade 7. He was one of the boys that would stay after school just to play sport. I had stayed later than usual because I wanted to complete my homework due to always being distracted at home. I stayed a walking distance from school, so it wouldn't bother me. Justin and his crew kicked the ball so high it hit the classroom window I was doing my work in, the teacher who stayed late was so shocked that she hurriedly checked on me to make sure none of the glass pieces touched me. I knew who kicked the ball because I had a direct view of the ground, the teacher on the other hand had no idea who did it. Plus, she was still new. When she ran to the office to find the principle I quickly searched for the ball only to find Justin's name on it, I put it in my bag and went back to my seat."

"Why did you protect him?" she asked

"My class motto was always stick up for one another, it will teach us a sense of unity and it kind of did."

"So, when the teacher returned she hadn't even noticed the ball was gone, she just wanted to save her neck, the principal let me go and when I got to the school gates. Justin and his crew were panicking already. Knowing that someone might rat them out or see Justin's name on it. I walked up to them and took out the ball from my bag. I handed it to Justin. They were all so shocked that none of them said a word. I told them to let the heat die down before they played on the grounds again and I waved as I left them stunned. The next day Justine constantly greeted me, watched over me and helped me. We became best friends, inseparable. This almost got wrecked in ninth grade, when we kissed plus we were each other first. Never slept with anyone else after that… don't ask why I don't know." or maybe because I don't want to admit that I might have loved him once upon a time.
