New Morning Habit

Jon offered Cathy to stay in the penthouse for her safety, but she insisted on staying in their home. The night was hotter than usual, and she cannot seem to be in the mood for sleep. Apart from the fear of knowing that the security footage has been deleted, the feeling of being guarded by at least ten men, roaming around her property made her feel uneasy. Her mom is still in the hospital, and it may take another three days before she could get home. Jon has provided all the security personnel to make sure they both are safe, and he swore to her that he is going to take care of everything. She recalled him saying, "We are going to find out who did this, and why," he opened the door for her, kissed her cheek and closed the door after she got in. Jon has asked his chauffeur to take Cathy home before heading to the penthouse, leaving ten men to make sure that no harm shall come to her the whole night. As Cathy recalled it, she felt shy, and her cheeks turned red. She looked at the ceiling and hugged her favourite pillow in a light pink cover with feathers. "Why did he have to do that?" she thought to herself as she touched her right cheek with her right palm. It was eleven when she finally fell asleep, nearly three hours of being in bed.

It was almost six in the morning when she woke up. She got up, rushed to the bathroom and washed her face. Her mobile phone rang, she quickly answered the call, it was Jon. "Hey, how are you?" he asked. "I'm good," she managed to say. "I might be late, however, I'm sorry. It's just that I couldn't sleep last night," she continued. Jon gave a loud laugh, "Hahaha, it's funny though because you got no work today." Cathy stopped, she looked at the clock, it was late, but she suddenly remembered that the day they took her mother to the hospital was after the hotel event, and it was a day off. "Oh, I didn't realize that," she said with a sigh. "And since you've got no work today, will it be good to catch up and have breakfast?" before she could reply, the doorbell rang. "There's someone.." Jon cut him off, "Catie, be a good host and check who it is?" She then ran while holding the phone on the other hand. She tried to peek through the window, and saw a figure of a tall man. "There is a man outside, Jon," she whispered on the phone. There was a loud knock. "Hello, is anybody here?" a loud voice came after a knock. Cathy hurried and got her baseball bat which was hidden under the sofa, went to the door and opened it. As she did, she raised both her hands holding the bat, only then did the man raise his face and shouted. "Hey Catie! It's me." she put the baseball bat down upon seeing his face and quickly apologized. "Come in," she welcomed him, wearing her sleepwear made in satin, a white Chinese collared dress that straightened to her knees, with sleeves covering her entire arms. Her hair is in a bun, her face pale and her eyes smaller than usual due to the lack of sleep. Jon hung up and got in, looked at her from head to toe and handed over a bucket of bread and some grocery items. She placed them all on the kitchen top, while Jon locked the main door and followed her. He was wearing a white top and dark blue jeans, his hair is not fixed and he looked a lot different than that of when he comes to work. After her followed her, that is when she got the chance to ask. "What brings you here? I didn't expect that you would come." He smiled at her, placing both his hands on his waist, "Well, we both do not have work today, so I thought about coming and having breakfast with you." Cathy did all the work in the kitchen and prepared their breakfast. Brewed coffee, pancakes, ham and egg and butter toast, "I love coffee so much, do you?" she asked him. "I do, I am starting to love having coffee with you," he said to her, smiling. He held her hand and said, "Let us make this a morning habit." She smiled and went back to eating.
