CHAPTER 23

"How long have you, Noah and Justin known each other?" I asked him

"Since in our wombs. Our mothers were friends"

"Oh, so it's the automatically become friends situation"

"Not really"

"We weren't exactly friends, we actually used to fight each other, but we strangely grew closer" he explained

"I see"

"What of you and Kim?"

"I just met her in this school"

"Someone would think that you've known each other for years"

"Well, it may not be like that, but it feels like it"

"I don't understand a word you just said, but I'm not saying a word concerning it" he said

I smiled

Neither of us said anything for a while before he spoke

"Can I ask you something!" he asked

"Go on" I told him, but he didn't say anything

The way he wasn't saying anything made me hold my breathe. At the back of my mind, I had an idea of what he was going to say

I looked at him before I looked at the counter table

"Are you going to ask me the question you usually ask me?"

He didn't say anything so I looked at him back

I gave him a small smile

"You really can't hold your curiosity, can you?"

I started my hand from the tablet to my laps. My head was no longer down, but my eyes weren't meeting his own

"Well, 'the man' is my dad"

I met his eyes, and breathe a laugh

"He was a jerk. A very big one"

"You don't want to talk about it" he said

I nodded

"And besides, you don't seem like the person I'll want to talk my problems with" I joked

He flicked my head

"Ow!" I complained

I glared at him

"Do you want me to also flick your eyes?"

I gasped

"You're really something else" I told him

"That's right"

I chuckled

I gasped when my eyes went to the time displayed in the microwave

"It's already after one" I stated

"Let's go sleep"

"I guess time also matters for you"

"Even though I try not to be a truant, time doesn't easily matter to me, but it isn't the same way for you"

"You're such a good student" I mocked him

"I'm everything good, Shannon" he winked

"I'm dumbfounded" I said out loud

"That's not a new thing"

I looked at him for a while before I shook my head as if I was carrying out evil thought

"Let's just go to sleep, okay?" I pleaded

He chuckled, then we climbed the stairs

"Night, peanut" he said

I turned around to question his name for me, but he had already closed the door of his room, so

"Night" I replied even though it was to his door

I laid on the bed and closed my eyes with a smile, waiting sleep to come

"Shannon" I heard someone call my name

"Huh?" I asked sleepily

"Wake up, you have to go to school"

I grunted, and moved from the person

"Shannon" My name was called again

I didn't hear anything, so I focused back on my sleeping. After a while, my eyes jerked open

I gasped as I jumped to a sitting position. I turned when I sensed someone, and saw Aiden's sister, Sandra

"What's the time?" I asked her, cautiously

"8 o'clock" she said

My eyes widened

"What?"

School starts 8:30

I ran to the bathroom, and had an hurried shower. When I came out, Sandra was no longer there. There was no time, so I just put on casual sweat pants and a hoodie. I grabbed my bag and went downstairs

I stopped when I saw Aiden's parents

"Good morning" I greeted them with a hurried smile

"You're finally awake" Alexa said

"Ah, yes" I said

"Would you like some breakfast?" Sandra asked

"Ah... Breakfast"

I looked at the time

"She'll be late, Sandra" Andrew said

"But, she'll be hungry in school" Alexa said

"I can eat in school" I said

"Okay then. Aiden is outside"

"Bye then" I said

"Bye" someone said as I closed the door

I went towards my car, and was about to open it when

"Get in" Aiden said

I turned to him with a frown

"Why should I?" I asked him

"It's be faster to get to school than two cars"

"Forget it"

"Okay then, such a pity that I was willing to vouch for you when you get to school late" He started his car

"Wait!" I stopped him, and entered his car

"You could have just woken me up, you know" I told him, but he just shrugged his shoulders

"Jerk" I muttered

"Let's go" he said when we got out of the car

"To where?"

"I said I was going to vouch for you, didn't I?"

I smiled

"So, you actually keep your word?" I asked

"Bye" he said

I stopped him

"What?"

"You're not trying to get out of it by pretending to be angry, are you?" I crossed my arm

"There's nothing for me to get out of" he said

As soon as we stepped into the class, all eyes were on us. I followed Aiden to the teacher desk, but didn't join when he was talking to her

"Go sit" he told me when they were done

"Thank you" I whispered to him and went to sit down

"Aiden!"

I shook as Britney screeched Aiden name. She waved when he turned to look at her, but he just gave her an irritated look and continued walking

"What's going on between the two of you?" Kim leaned towards me and whispered

"Nothing" I answered

I turned when she didn't say anything, which wasn't like her. She was giving me a suspicious look which turned into wriggling eyebrows

I gave her a 'what are you doing look' and went back to what I was doing

The excitement was rolling off her body

"Why are you acting like it's a big deal?" Oh-je asked her

I laughed

"It looks like you two have really bonded. And it's just one day. I'm really curious of what would happen after this project" I told them

"What are you saying? I..." she was cut short as a food tray landed on our lunch table

I looked up to see Britney and her sides occupier

"You look so happy" the girl on her left, probably Regina, said

"Probably because she's Aiden's new thing" Britney said

"Everyone knows that they're working together on the English project" Kim said

"Yeah, sure, after going through various, unbelievable means to get to work with him" the one on the right, Avalon, said

"So tell me," she rested get hands on the table, "how was it. Did you have a nice time on his bed?" she asked

I signed, unbelievably

"Do you like Aiden?"

"What else would it be?"

"Someone should please tell me that this isn't happening right now" I said

"You should have thought about this when you were..."

"When I was what? Sleeping with him?"

I learned back on the chair and crossed my arms

"Do I look like you?" I asked her

She stood up and stood akimbo

"What?" she asked

"You go around with clothes that aren't clothes with gooms as your side like you're in some book. You make up a dumb name like you're a hot shot, you plaster make up all over your face thinking it makes you pretty, but instead, it make you look haggered. And you stick up to popular, rich boys which, in my eyes, make you look pathetic. Do you think really think I'm like that? Like you?" I said and repeated my question

I stood up

"Also, you claim you like Aiden, but you don't know him at all. You've been here longer than me, but even I know"

"What do you know?"

She took a step back as I took as step towards get. By now, everyone in the cafeteria had their eyes on us, but I didn't care. I took another step towards her

"Aiden isn't like that. He's a jerk, a big fat one, but he doesn't have 'things'. He isn't a playboy. Therefore I..."

I raised my hand in a fist, and just when she shrieked and bent down, covering her face, I placed my hand on my chest

"Have done nothing wrong" I said with a smile

I went to take my bag then left, after briefly saying bye to my friends

When I got to the entrance, Aiden ward there, and I guess he had been watched

"Please, control your fan club, will you?" I told him and left
