1 Death and Life

Chapter 1

Title: Death and Life

--

"Ugh.." I groaned.

'What is this? Didn't I just die? Shouldn't I be in some fiery pit burning for eternity?'

"..Where am I?" Around me was an endless white void. "I can't be in heaven, right? If so, where is the big golden gate with the singing angels?"

Suddenly, the white void began to distort until a portal opened. What, or rather who stepped out was a beautiful silver-haired woman whose features could even make Greek gods jealous.

We stared at each other without talking until she decided to break the silence. "I see that you are finally awake."

"It seems like you already know me, so who might you be?"

"I am God of course!" Are my ears not working properly after dying? Yep. That must be it. What a weird woman though, playing as a god.

"No, I am really God! Hmph!" She huffed.

"If you're 'god' does that mean I really died? But I was perfectly fine until my TV glitched and exploded... Oh. So you killed me, huh. Aren't gods supposed to be benevolent? That didn't seem very benevolent of you, and killing me without prior notice? How rude!"

I sent a disapproving look toward the woman and shook my head.

She blushed embarrassedly and stuttered between her words. "I-It was an accident! Everyone makes mistakes, e-e-even gods! I-I'm sorry, okay? I'll grant you a few wishes to make up for it!"

I raised a brow at her words before a sly smile appeared on my face.

"How many wishes?" I looked deeply into the woman's eyes.

She slightly flinched from my gaze but quickly regained her composure. "I'll only grant you three wishes."

"Ah c'mon, just three? How about five? You killed an innocent woman after all."

"No, that's way too much!"

I almost clicked my tongue. "Four wishes. I won't go any lower."

"D-Deal! Definitely no more than four! Tell me what you want, and no, you cannot ask to become a god."

I smiled at how easily the god was persuaded. Now, what shall I ask for? It'll take me a while to think of what would be best.

Hmm...

An hour might've passed before I decided on what I wanted. I turned towards the woman who hadn't moved since coming out of her portal.

"I wish to...

1. Be reborn into a powerful family

2. Have the power to steal other people's abilities

3. Have the power to travel to different worlds

…and 4, to have an immortal soul."

"Since your wishes seem reasonable enough I'll grant them. You'll be teleported in five seconds."

'Five seconds..okay!' I had to make sure I didn't miss my chance.

Before being teleported away, I ran over to the woman and gave her a small kiss on the lips. The last thing I saw before reality distorted was the blushing face of the goddess who'd killed me.

~~~
-General POV-
Once Reiko was teleported out of the white void, the composed god was once again losing it.
"She k-k-kissed me!" The woman touched her lips and cheek. She could feel the warmth of it, causing her to blush even harder. She didn't even need a mirror to know how red her face was.
"How dare she kiss I, the great and amazing Goddess Iris! Hmph! I'll get her back for this!" Iris stomped her foot while thinking of ways to get back at Reiko.
'Hmm...how about- ah, no.. maybe this? No, no.. Ah-ha! I've got it!'
She proudly pointed her nose in the air and laughed to herself. Iris had thought of the perfect thing to do for her revenge.
"Hahaha! You'd better enjoy your life little girl because I surely will!"
*cough*
"How e-embarrassing..!"
While the goddess scolded herself for doing such a childish thing, Reiko on the other side was not having such a fun time.
She was going through the long, painful, and boring process of being born.
'How long is this going to take?!'
It in fact took hours before she was finally able to hear the voices of people. After the screaming and crying, she'd finally had a chance to open her eyes and look around. Reiko's gaze first landed on the woman who'd been holding her the entire time.
'This must be my mom. She's quite a beautiful woman. What does my dad look like? He must be handsome too. I'll definitely grow up to be a beauty with genes like that.'
She shifted her gaze off of her mother and glanced at the nurses who'd help deliver her.
'Basic.' Reiko didn't even put the nurses in her eyes before moving on.
Before she could do anything else though, one of the nurses took her from her mother's arms and laid her in a crib. It was a nicely decorated crib suited for a family of the upper class.
Although Reiko couldn't move her body much, she could at least move her head to see what the room looked like. It was much more than she'd expected.
Countless high-quality toys, clothes, and jewelry were scattered on the dressers and floor of the room. Not to mention the huge bed that could probably fit an entire family on it.
'Ah..it's exactly what I wished for. Well, close to it at least. If a family has money like this then they're definitely powerful in some way. Now that I think about it, how should I go about this new life? Mn...I can think about that later. Jeez, why are babies so weak?'
After Reiko's reincarnation, she'd finally become too tired to stay awake. Whether it be because she was a newborn or because she'd gone through death, her mind felt tired. Her eyes slowly closed and she dozed off to sleep.
