249 Say Cheese!

"Happy birthday."

"You don't know how glad I am to see you."

"Yeah, Cornelia thought of that so she decided to wish you a happy birthday first," Rosalynn admitted, remembering how bitter Cornelia looked when she had mentioned it. Cornelia certainly wasn't pleased that Madeline was closer to Rosalynn than she was to her own mother. 

Even if she could do something about it, she chose not to. Besides, it wasn't as though her previous decisions hadn't landed her in a difficult spot. 

Rosalynn tilted her head, "What happened? You seem happier than usual."

"Xavier asked me to be his girlfriend."

"Ah, no wonder. Happy for you, dear," she said. 

Indiana would have been so happy for her friend. 

Rosalynn was overjoyed to see Madeline so happy on her birthday. Cornelia had told her that Madeline didn't fare particularly well on her birthdays. It was a day she felt more lonely.
