CHAPTER 55

The late afternoon sun cast long shadows across the deserted street as Jared peeled away from Lady Lilith Dismay's lavish home. 

His mind was a whirlwind of thought with Skai's image flashing behind his eyelids each passing second. 

Since their encounter on Sunday, he'd deliberately avoided her, burying himself in work and ignoring the increasingly frantic messages from her father. 

'Was the old man threatening him or was he concerned about his daughter?' he wondered. Given the information he got about Skai and the way her brothers reacted to her at the party, he knew the likelihood of her father being concerned was next to none.

Still, all the warning he gave himself to stay away from her earlier, flew out the window when her thought crossed his mind, sending a tremor through his heart.

He was once again reminded of her smile and the undeniable connection that simmered between them.
