CHAPTER 56

Damien pulled up close to the entrance and parked his car. He alighted and rushed towards her bag when he caught sight of her ID lying on the ground. 

"Skai."

His heart skipped a beat at the thought of what might have gone wrong. Taking a quick glance around, Damien could see how lonely and secluded things were. 

It was a good thing darkness had not fully descended; otherwise, he wouldn't have easily spotted her bag. His forehead puckered as he shut his eyes briefly. 

Using his powers, he tried to sense her presence. 

At once, Damien's eyes snapped open as he whipped his head to the side facing the alley. "She's there."

Rushing in quickly, he ran until he heard the annoying voice of Skai's attacker and halted at the connecting path when he caught a whiff of something. 

Damien's blood ran cold as the metallic tang of blood hit him. 'Blood?' Damien's eyes widened. 

'Whose blood?'
