Chapter 9

She looked at the screen and her face brightened up. It was her best friend, Prisca calling. She quickly took her phone and picked up the call. A sweet and familiar voice sounded through the phone call.

"Annie, where are you?"

"Prisca, don't worry about that. I'm looking for Wendy and I can't seem to find her. I'm so scared."

"It's okay. You don't have to explain anything to me."

"You don't get it. I'm afraid that Wendy has been...." stops when she hears Wendy's voice from the background.

"Prisca why I'm i hearing Wendy's voice from the background? Is Wendy there? please tell me". Annie said in a pleading tone.

"Yes. She's here with me." Prisca said and chuckled.

"I want to talk to her. please give her the phone".

Few seconds later.

"Mommy, it's me Wendy. I'm at aunty Prisca house."

"Wendy my dear. Are you fine, is everything alright. Talk to me."

"Mommy, I'm fine. Aunty Prisca picked me up from school and I'm here with her children". Wendy said giggling.

Annie laughed and said,

"Don't worry. Mommy is coming".

Annie hung up the call after talking to Prisca. She quickly turned her car on and drove to Prisca's house.

Thankfully, Prisca's house wasn't far from where she was, so she got there within 30 minutes. She packed the car outside the compound. She got off the car and walked towards the house.

Annie didn't need to knock when she got to the front door. It already opened and Wendy ran outside to hug her. Annie hugged her back and brought her to her side.

Prisca stood beside the door and looked at mother and daughter with a smile on her face.

"Thank you so much, Prisca. I'm really grateful". Annie said with a smile on her face. She could now breathe well without difficulty since her daughter is now with her.

"It's nothing. But there are a lot of things you need to tell me." Prisca said looking at Wendy, her expression looking a bit serious than the forma.

Annie smiled and said,

"Sure. I'll explain everything to you but I need to go home first."

"Okay. Bye. Bye Wendy".
