Chapter 8

Annie drove straight home. She expected Williams to pickup Wendy from school. She was very tired and needed some rest. She drove into the compound and packed her car. She walked up to the door and found it closed.

She opened it with her own keys and found the house empty and just the same way she left it. ' weird, does this mean that Williams hasn't come home yet, but then where is he?'

She tried calling him but it wasn't going, she tried several times but it didn't work.

"where is Wendy then?" she asked herself confused.

Annie quickly got into her car and drove off. She tried calling Williams once more but it wasn't going, then she decided to call Wendy's teacher, a friend of hers. The phone kept ringing until a woman's voice was heard.

"Hello, Milla are you there?" Annie asked.

"Yes. You're talking to Milla, is there a problem Mrs. Robinson?" The woman replied.

"I just wanted to know if my daughter is still in school." Annie said waiting for the woman's reply.

"No, there was no student around when I left. I would know since I was among the last set of teachers to leave." Milla said.

"Are you sure you didn't see my daughter? my husband didn't come to pick her up and now I can't seem to find her." Annie explained bitterly. she almost broke into tears while talking.

"Calm down. Wendy is fine. A friend of yours probably picked her up." Milla's calm voice seemed to have calmed down Annie's worried heart.

"Thank you Milla. That was really helpful." Annie said and hung up the call. She had been driving towards the direction of the school but turned around to park somewhere and think.

She felt like doing something to take the stress away. Her phone started ringing which disturbed her thoughts.
